We are working on our designs and dress for the spring and it was great to watch the Peoples Choice awards last night. You see if you watch this show and the Grammy's, Oscars's and Emmy's you get a sense of what is on trend.
One thing that is happening for spring is bright crayon colors like many of the dresses that the girls wore last night. Crayola greens, blues and reds were all over the place. We just got a bunch of fabric in similar colors that we are making our dresses in.
Also the wife designed a new dress we are calling the trapezoid dress based on the neckline and we were delighted to see Busy Phillips wearing one on the show. Of course she would have looked a lot better if she wore the right bra but she didn't come to us for a fitting so she lost out. In any event our new dress is lot like this one. I guess great minds think alike. It is a great dress for our customer as it has sleeves for arm coverage and a great neckline while still covering the larger bra straps that our girls need. You see our girls usually have big "girls" so spaghetti straps don' t cut it.
All in all we were very happy about what we saw on the red carpet. We are on the right track.

Love that neckline. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
I respect your business and I know you're a real man, obviously secure in being such. However, after a post like this I would suggest a quick follow-up w/ some Angie Dickinson and/or sports post. This is like a bar for many of us. And, while we like Titus we don't want this to turn into a fern bar. NTTAWWT.
Speak for yourself, Nick. Titus blows.
You are correct Sixty, I should speak for myself. However, although we apparently don't share the same camaraderie w/ Titus I can agree w/ you on the point that Titus does indeed blow. NTTAWWT.
Did Ray Handley make an appearance on the red carpet?
Bright colors that are popular now are great for certain skin tone types. Some people look good in them and others don't.
"I" can wear those (winter skin tone) really bright clear colors, but look like crap in autumn tones like muted browns and orange tones. Michelle Obama, may have horrible taste in clothing but she looks great in those crayon colors.
I guess my point is don't overload your inventory in one color scheme. You will be blocking out a portion of your target market who won't look good or like the crayon colors.
Just sayin'
On the other hand, people will buy what is in style without consideration of what really looks good on them. /shrug
Love the neckline on that dress too!!!! It looks fabulous.
My youngest daughter just got engaged and the wedding is in late summer, at Olin Park , in Madison. Ive been looking at Mother of the Bride dresses, ugh, can't find anything right yet. I won't get one untill about a month or so before the wedding.
I like lighter colors with my dark hair, but it will be almost fall, I'm at a loss.
Keep the fashion posts coming, don't listen to the guys. They only want to undress a woman, not dress her, lol.
I WANT one. This is beautiful. I love the color, too.
I'm having my colors done this afternoon. Then I'm watching the great flick, Ed Wood, w/ ex Giant football coach and transvestite, Ray Handley. He's wearing angora as he always does when he watches Ed Wood. Handley is in Madison for the annual tansvestite ice fishing tournament. Handley is staying in Wisconsin and going to the Packer/Giants game. He's pretty sure when he's bundled up in his full length mink and several colorful scarves that no one will notice him. He's cheering for the Packers. Handley invited me to go w/ him but I told him I couldn't handle the cold anymore. I'm ashamed to admit I just would feel very uncomfortable.
@ndspinelli
Sounds like your dance card is pretty full, but if you have time, stop on by and I'll give you my recipe for home made twinkies and whoopie pies.(get your mind out of the gutter)
We can put on our prettiest aprons and make junk food!!!
Just so you know we are doing the trapezoid dress in a great red.
Not an orange red but a lipstick kind of deep red.
You would look great in it for Valentines Day, Dust Bunny Queen.
Just sayn'
We are making up a bunch of dresses for the show but they are so good I might sell them all before the show starts filming!
Then what am I gonna do?
Trooper, Like the Doritos jingle.."Don't worry, we'll make more!"
DBQ,
I don't wear women's clothes. I'm just intriqued by manly men who do. This is not a joke. I learned that a qb I played w/ liked to wear girls underwear. He was a couple years behind me in high school. I was his blind side offensive tackle. My sister was in his class and she told me after I had graduated about his undie preference. We are both certain he was not gay..just liked wearing girls panties. To each their own!
I better get that homemade Twinkie recipe considering the possible demise of Hostess. I was surprised to read in this mornings paper that a Twinkie only has 150 calories.

My first husband and all of his manly men friends, mostly Marines and Navy ex vietnam vets, used to wear women's panty hose when they went hunting or fishing in cold weather.
They were warm, non bulky and difficult to get in their sizes and usually not thought about until just before the hunting trip.(Amazing how the booze was always stocked up well in advance...hmmmm)
The wives would have to go and buy the last minute items panty hose to avoid embarrasment. The wives and girlfriends got a great deal of enjoyment and teasing potential out of the situation.
Also large size women's silk chemises for the same warmth reasons. Now that there are manufacturers of silk long johns and undershirts for men and women.....not so much of a problem.
This was all long before Al Gore invented the internet and ordering from catalogues for hunting gear wasn't as easy as it is now.
How Busy is she?
Ed Wood is a great movie. Tim Burton's best.
Transvestism is interesting. It's mostly macho straight guys afflicted. When it starts veering into TS, it's tragic, I think (from talking to TSes).
FYI: That pic won't be up long.

I was going to stay off this thread but Darcy read my mind twice. First, I like that color blue and second, the dress would look great in black, too.
Why do I find myself thinking about Eddie Izzard?
@ Darcy
If you look good in black, and you do, you can wear a bright true (not orangey) red.
I need a petite length, so the dress doesn't come down to my lower calves and make me look even shorter. (5'5") God. I hate shopping for clothes!
Thanks, DBQ! I've always shied away from red, but it's such a fun color. I would love to try it.
Will it be available in camo? Just asking for... a friend who hunts.
I love red dresses, devil in a red dress.
And the pantyhose idea - guilty! I wore them on very cold days when working outdoor construction, in the days before polyporpeline long johns. Under Aromr now serves the same purpose at a much higher cost.
Best thing about them was that they didn't have friction with the next layer, so it was easy to move while framing buildings, climbing ladders, etc.
The guys on my crew scrounged through Goodwill and other secondhand clothing stores looking for polyester disco-era shirts. They also were a great first layer because they slid well under the next layers. They were also very inexpensive, until the hipster doofuses started buying them and drove the prices up.

I'm shocked, shocked! :)
The best thing about a woman in a red dress is that you can take them deer hunting with you.

LOL.
In our family, when you want to emphasize that a movie really, really sucks, you say ...
Ed Wood.
Really. Worst movie ever.
Just sayin.
I wore a powder blue leisure suit to my high school prom. Does that count for any fashion/fabric creds?
Bet you looked dashing, cl. :)
@Tank
Gotta agree with blake. I liked Ed Wood, too. It was sweet and funny and bizarre. Just like the subject, no?
My teen aged kid hated it, though.

Only if you also wore a ruffled front shirt.
Admit it. I bet you did.
@Darcy: I was dashing...from prom to prom that year!
DBQ: I didn't wear that kind of shirt, but they were in style in 1977-78.
@cl
Rake! :)
I've never seen Ed Wood. Should I?
How on earth did you find that web site, DBQ?
Anyway, I think that kind of dress in black would go best with a blonde or a red hair.
#likeimanexpert
Tank,
Your opinion is wrong.
Just thought you'd like to know.
It helps to know the source material, of course, but if you're ignorant of the classics, that's hardly my problem.
After seeing Darcy in that sweater, I'm ready to buy her that dress if she promises to take a pic in it.
I think a pretty dress looks even better on the floor!
Just sayn'
chickenlittle, When Leavenworth inmates were released back in the 70's when I worked there they were issued leisure suits. The 4 colors were lime green[the worst], powder blue[close 2nd], navy blue and burgundy. They got to choose their color and most picked the lime green.
Lipstick Red? Like Joan, you mean?
Michael Haz, As long as you're doing construction, hunting, etc. when you wear pantyhose you're not a tranny. But, now that there are companies like Armorall, Wintersilks I don't want to hear about you wearing those panyhose anymore...hear me!
