You have to be humble.

You have to be humble.

The hardest thing to do in sports is to repeat as champions.

You have to be a superior team to do that. A true Dynasty. The regular season means nothing. Less than nothing. Sometimes you have to lose and suffer adversity to learn how to win when it counts. Having a undefeated season or a nearly undefeated season is not always the best thing. You start to believe your own press notices. The Tuna used to say you are what your record says you are. Nothing more. Nothing less. All of the wins you had before means nothing in the playoffs.

It was a good game. The Packers have a nice little team. Notan all time team. Great teams like the 1985 Bears and the 1986 Giants only won one championship. The true test of a dynasty and a great team is winning multiple championship all in a row. That happens every other decade or so.

The Giants have a nice little team. They have a nice little quarterback who has won exactly the same number of championships as the greatAaron Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers has a lot of great stats. And one Super bowl. Just like Jim McMahon. Jim Plunkett. Doug Williams. Mark Rypien. Brad Johnson. Brett Favre. Lots of guys have one win. So all the talk I have heard about how Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback ever might be rethought a little. I heard he was better than Terry Bradshaw. Better then Joe Montana. Better than Tom Brady.Yes that's right better than Tom Brady. I hate all Boston teams but Mr. Rodgers has to go a long way to be as good as Tom Brady. You are only as good as your record.

The Giants have a nice little team. We have a chance against the 49er's. If we are lucky enough to get past them we have a chance against anyone we play in the big game. I don't guarantee anything. I leave that to the Jets. We have a nice little team. We have a nice little chance. You have to be humble. Just sayn'

LET'S GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Manning's father really tell the the press that Eli would never play for the Chargers (or play well) because the market was too small? If true, and my sources were biased, all can say is what a dick. If not true, what did happen?

Anybody?

San Francisco Cocksuckers.

Eli's Dad got screwed by playing in New Orleans all his career and he wasn't going to let either of his kids get screwed like that.

Just like John Elway's Dad did.

It was a power play. Archie did the same thing with Peyton. Watch what Peyton does if the Colts pick that big time qb in the draft. The Mannings take care of themselves.

This is big time sports. Not beanbag.

SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLTS! The Chargers suck more than the Packers do, which is considerable suckage.

"You have to be humble"

Well said. I honestly felt better about the Pack last year at playoff time than this year.

Sloppy defense, too many drops on offense all of this year. The only thing that keeps me from complete agony after this tough loss to the Giants is the memory of beating Pittsburgh last year. oh, and our other 12 championships too.

Trooper York said...

No that isn't YA

That is the lowest moment of Giants History.

You need to remember that and stay humble.

Something Packer fans never do.

ND Spinelli likes to talk about New Yorks but you have to go a long way to find someone as arrogant as a Green Bay Packers fan. Just read some of my threads the last few days.

I guess that some of us don't think that power and money and buying talent is all that there should be to sports.

I'm sorry I got interested in this here, Troop. There can be no seeing eye-to-eye on this I guess.

Trooper York said...

You can enjoy the memories of all your past championships.

But at the end of the day Green Bay is still in Wisconsin. Just sayn'

Happy ND?

Niners / Giants next week should be EPIC ! That will be a brawl.

A.B.N.E (anyone but New England)

Trooper York said...

Chicky if you think big time sports is about anything other than money you are misinformed.

It is all about money. You have to sign on to that if you want to be a fan. Just sayn'

Trooper York said...

Players should be able to move around as free agents and get the money they want and play where they want. This is still America.

More or less.

Imagine having to play in a mediocre hell hole for your whole career - having no O line to protect you, aging before your time, watching your skills and talent evaporate in the heat of a bayou backwater - that's what happened to Archie. I don't blame him a bit for playing hardball so that his sons might have an opportunity. God bless him for being such a good parent. Fuck New Orleans and San Diego.

15 yard penalty for taunting.

Correct ALH. You are a real football fan.

Hey Garage Mahal just demanded a recount. And he wants to recall the refs because they only cheated on three calls for them.

You gotta love Wisconsin. Just sayn'

We live to play one more week!

As coach hold the fat kid, the only talk that counts is what you do on the field.

I came here to receive my well deserved beat down, and Troop was downright gentle.

Well done for the Giants and our host.

Big Blue Interactive still banned me. How lame is that? I even emailed the web administrator and congratulated them. Only the lamest of sites ban someone for mere disagreement.

Congratulations Trooper.

Trooper York said...

We get a lot of traffic from people who are banned from crappy websites. Just sayn'

Ron said...

Very well written Trooper....sports teaches humility in many ways!

Trooper York said...

We don't do that to people here Beta Rube. You have to go to other blogs where they pile on and knock somebody when they are down.

We stab you in the front. Just sayn'

I blame Obama for the Packers lose.

Man, that was the worse game of football that I've seen Green Bay play in a long, long time.

ndspinelli said...

Let me first respond to Trooper's polemic about Aaron Rodgers. You must understand when you accuse Rodgers of being s one trick pony that THIS IS HIS 4TH FUCKING YEAR AS STARTER. Now, he may well not earn another title w/ the vagaries of pro football..injuries, team demise, etc. When his career is over you can then take that shot if you wish. However, he's only 28!

As stated previously, I understand people. That was my profession. But my understanding NY'ers comes from my life experience. Congrats again to all Giant fans. And, any fans who travel for the championship game will have the added bonus of being in the gayest city and the city most accepting of transvestites. it must be Ray Handley karma. I hope they do beat the Niners. Harbaugh is an arrogant prick. He'll probably be the next Giants head coach.

Finally, a big congrats to our host. The man who the movie, Big Fan, was based upon!

Troopie talking about the Giants reminds me of Cedarford on Romney: link

I just returned from the grocery store. Hamburger is $4.59 a pound. Butcher said it was $1.89 a pound last year. This must have something to do with the Packers losing. The world is coming to an end.

dbp said...

$4.59! That is nuts. I only see that kind of price for fancy certified Black Angus ground sirloin--which I never buy.

We get a couple of chuck roasts at $1.99/lb and grind it up.

Congrats to the Giants. They owe their win to two things IMHO: Their offensive line gave Manning all the time he needed and the Packers haven't played this poorly all season.

SF showed a lot of heart in the game this weekend, so the Giants have their work cut-out for them.

Well, we've still got that. Thanks for lifting my spirits, Trooper.

Guess I've got 3 weeks to find a new pic.

ndspinelli said...

AllenS..that must be ground prime rib for that price! I think you're butcher bet the store on the Packers and is having to cover the vig by tonight. Although, I doubt there are many bookies and no loan sharks in northern Wi., are there?

AllenS said...

Just regular ground beef. I also bought a chuck roast for $4.99 a pound. According to the butcher the price of beef is way up. I wonder about the local bars around here that serve hamburgers. Also, what is this going to do to McDonald's prices?

ndspinelli said...

In Arkansas the local bars just grind in stray cat and dog meat in w/ the hamburg meat during price spikes. In NY they grind in rat meat.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

I want the price of beef to be so high you all stop eating it.

Pork, the other white meat. It is really good I hear.

I hope the Giants go all the way.
