Looks like Henry, Lem and Chickie each got an Althouse mention.
I heard Rush Limbaugh do a very nice segment about Dr. Helen's book today, and that probably won't be the part of Rush's show that AA excerpts, unless she does it because she reads this comment.
@Michael: I emailed her that link a couple days ago as a comment to her post on the Canadian train explosion because I thought perhaps something fishy had happened in the Texas explosion. But then she stopped posting comments and so it never appeared there. So maybe she looked at the link and instead of blowing it off, made a quick post of it. There's really nothing more to read into it. My page views spiked.
Is there a synopsis of what went on over that TOPs? We left for a nice canoe trip in BWCA near the 1st of the month, then to Duluth to see Bob Dylan, and until Tuesday night had no cell or internet. Now everyone is gone, 'cept for here.
John--I started my wilderness canoeing experience in the BWCA back in the early 1970s--Start out at Ely--When I really got into it I started going up to northern Saskatchewan for some real trips up to Reindeer Lake and Wollaston Lake. But the BWCA was my spring board into really great trips.
As far as what happened at the Althouse site? I have no idea. Looks to me like egos got in the way of rationality. BTW--What the hell does TOPs stand for?
@John: I went along on a BWCA trip back in 1983 with a bunch of friends. I remember beautiful, unspoiled scenery: lakes, rivers, moose, loons and mosquitoes.
El Pollo Reylan--The BWCA was great, but the BWCA is the southern most section of the north American Precambrian shield. Best canoeing in the world--go further north--north of the Churchill river and it gets even better. I usually stage out of Pelican Narrows. And I am lucky--mosquitos leave me alone.
I am the mosquito attractant that makes me welcome company when venturing into the northlands. No one else gets bit. It has been attributed to excess CO2, dark clothes, bananas, and my warm personality. Whatever, I suffer.
Limiting your commenters to, well, zero, doesnt seem to be a formula for success. Or for populating a cafe.
Well it went like this. There were a couple of very contentious threads where the fighting and the alliances were different than usual. Althouse went into the threads and attacked various commenters and used the body of the thread to attack men in general. She got some strong pushback including from some unexpected sources such as bagoh and Ritmo. There was also a lot of praise for Dr Helen and her book and Althouse got in a war of words with Instapundit. It was spiraling out of control. Well out of her control. She was losing. Badly. So she closed the comment section. That is how I see.
I hate Sarah Jessica Parker, Robin Williams, Tim Robbins, Susan Saradon, the BJ Hunnicut guy, brussel sprouts, the Boston Red Sox, commies and well, lawyers.

I think Betty should shave her beaver.
Then she would be a cleaner, yet dirtier girl.
The Sox' bats disappeared for a while today against C. Furbush, but they spurted to a late lead and won by a hair.
Is it wrong that I'm slightly aroused?
Someone mentioned that nonmembers can view Troop's posts but not comments. Can you imagine what they must think?
Inga furtively clicking in, only to see a cartoon character who vaguely resembles her.
You mean in the background??
She should stay away from the beach when this happens.
It also serves to show bad-faith commenters and how to deal with them.
So that's what Ian Ziering is up to. I lost track of him after he and Kevin Bacon left "Guiding Light."
What about "Beverly Hills 90210?"
"Beverly Hills 90210"? Never watched it. I'm a Baby Buster not a Gen Xer. Didn't see "Reality Bites" until last year. It sucked.
Meth: make it two of us--I do love landing strips on the ladies. :) Except I am too old to anything about it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it sure looks like Betty should stop by Troop's place for a bra fitting. I hear he is just the man for the job.
I heard the Rush plug for Dr. Helen. It was solid.
I doubt Ann will mention that.

Cross my heart, I'm just not seeing a need for lift or separation.
@RAA: I watch "Oceanside 92058" every day.

Kind of like a Twilight Zone episode.
I would like to find the Cliff notes version.
She blowed up real good!

I had previously come in from the end of the Gunflint, but this time it was from Ely.

My synopsis: link
It was a coup d'etat for tit
What the hell does TOPs stand for?
TOP meant The Other Place. It was code for "Althouse."

An Althouse divided cannot stand itself

Others might have a different take.
ELB, that was fargin' brilliant.
Whoa! Hi-larious! Nice work.
Gives a whole new take on "bunker mentality."
Come on Texas.

And there you have it - a perfect distillation of the situation in the nutshell.
And that last word can be parsed as necessary.
Thanks for the synopsis, Troop.
