Well then I guess there's no mystery about how outsiders read the stuff here.
I'm still mystified. I was under the impression a person had to be permitted access to the TY blog, so someone without access who followed the EBL link would not find themselves entering the TY blog, but encounter instead the note that says permission is required.
Chip, I see what you mean now. I put the link in more for my convenience and those who are permitted access here like you. If someone else links it from my site, they get blocked (but then they recognize Trooper has a blog it is just blocked).
So however they are circumventing the process, that is not it.
Sixty: I could have ran Meade down and gored him like my cousins do at Yellowstone and Pamplona, but what can you do. The man has no balls and basically has to keep Ann amused. He is the William Holden character in Sunset Boulevard, but without Holden's youth, mojo, or girlfriend.
Evi, I just asked a friend who's not a member here to click the TY link from your site. It allowed full reading access to that post and comments, but not the ability to post a new comment.
It also allowed reading every post on the site, but not the comments to those other posts.
*Mary* comments? Are you out of your fucking mind?
You must be.
We're talking about **Mary** here.
***Mary.***
You've gone way down the slipping-slide if all of sudden Mary--freakin' Mary--is a good actor, just because that benefits you, in terms of your current thinking.
***Mary*** is interesting?
Well, I suppose she is, if you like that sort of thing. That *Mary*. I remember her very well, from eight years ago, when, for example, she swooped over to my original blog and threatened to send her friends over to my house, referencing my kid (quite young, then, at the time). She had the location nailed down, enough, by the way. I share this not to make it about me, but rather to share a concrete example of stuff that was part of her modi operandi from the start. My experience was not unique.
I repeat: Are you out of your minds?
In addition: Among the most vile, vicious comments I have ever seen on these here Internets (and God knows, I have seen veritable tens of thousands, at the least, of vile vicious comments over the past quarter century) that were directly, precisely, specifically and vindictively directed in a personal blog context were Mary's directed to Amba/Annie Gottlieb. As Annie was fulfilling her commitment to care unto death for her husband/partner, in the face of one of the especially nasty ways to go, and even defying much bureaucracy along the way, while always demonstrating, and being accountable to, humanity along the way.
Any one who even just finds *Mary* interesting can go straight to hell, as far as am I concerned. Anyone who finds her illuminating and worthy of being an ally either "of" or "in" any form, is a complete and utter piece of shit who also can go straight to hell, the only difference is that I hope you suffer more along the way.
Trooper: gary owen sir--the cavalry has checked in. my initial comment seems to have disappeared--alas--anyway, glad to be back--I do hope my soldiers have come with me: drill sgt and allens--otherwise I will have no one to tell my war stories to. To the various refugees from Wisconsin--glad to see you
I always found Mary vicious and over the top. But not everyone has the memory and the knowledge of what had gone before. So reading her comments today they could see not all that bad.
Not everyone has knowledge of your integrity rcommal so not everyone will value you opinion. I respect it and you and feel that you have every right to feel the way you do.
We don't always have all the facts. Most of you do not have all the facts about the dispute between Althouse and Trooper York because I did not make all of them public. So you can jump to conclusions that I am out of line in some of the stuff I might have said and done. When in fact I feel I have been very restrained.
When you don't have all the facts sometimes you can misjudge. Situations. Comments. Commenters.
A couple of days ago, in going through e-mails of old in search of a particular e-mail exchange [not having to do with this particular issue], I did come across an old e-mail exchange, dated in March 2009, that involved a discussion of *Mary* between me and a commenter whose name you all would find quite familiar, were I to share it. Within that were references in real time to stuff then and just a handful of years before. I consider that sort of a bridge between now, July 2013, and all the way back, not quite a decade ago.
They brought it on themselves. The attacks went both ways but they couldn't handle it. So they were punks. Pussies. Losers. Everything that demented twat was calling her commenters all week.
I don't really want to dance. But I do have to take a leak.
See, there's the problem, for me, anyway. You think that its fundamentals originate from a year-and-a-half or so ago. I think that the problem has as its roots the situation more akin to five or six years ago. We can just agree to disagree, I suppose; however, I'm not sure that's worth the bother. What do you think?
Plus this is a big bag of bullshit. This will not last.
Meade is too lazy to post comments from emails and the EBL is too needy to forego stroking from her devoted fans even if it has dwindled down to Inga and edutcher. They will be back up within two weeks with stern admonitions about "good faith."
For the record, while I so much appreciate Ruthie's weighing in here, the email to which I referred was not one between me and her, FTR. Just in case anyone out there thought, erroneously, otherwise. The name recognizable is yet another.
As for real names, as well you know, Trooper York, Althouse has known mine from the start, among others who have also known it, soon enough to their own starts. You are among those others.
I know. But when you use a screen name there is an implicit request to remain under that screen name.
I guess I have no complaint now because I am a semi-public person. But I have no doubt that they would reveal other peoples names because they are vindictive little shits.
A side of them too many people gloss over but of which I have first hand knowledge.
I've had to put up with veiling shit from the very starts of all of you. My fault, full stop, because I put myself in that position. That said, I did, at least, earn some insight along the way, sought or not.
I am sure you would not be happy if they revealed your real name even thought they know it. Regardless of how many other commenters might know it. Just sayn'
Oh, bullshit. Seriously, Trooper, bullshit. I not just spotted, but called out, the Inga B.S. before ***anyone*** here at your blog did (and, by definition, the other blog as well). Not only that, but that was at a cost, which not a single one acknowledged, even after a number of you spent vast amounts of times calling her out over there, after the fact.
You can be so full of shit, Troop.
---
BTW, FTR, my being right (and being the first to spot the reality) with regard to Inga, as an example, is not the first time, and not by the longest shot. Not even close.
The woman like rcommal, DBQ and MamaM all spotted her for what she was. The dudes were oblivious.
I mean I understand that because we normally don't really listen when you broads are talking. We just say "yes you are right dear" and think about baseball.
My wife gets mad at me when she hears how the manufacture lady talks to me. She is always yelling and lecturing me and the wife says how can I let her talk to me like that?
I tell her that is how most woman talk to you. They are always yelling or lecturing or nagging you about something.
Hey did you see A-Rod got a couple of hits last night?
Hell, yeah, I can be wrong. I am wrong, often. I make a lot of mistakes, and no doubt will I continue to make mistakes and be wrong going into the future.
The thing is, there are also a rather lot of things and people about which I am right and have been, from the start.
So you can jump to conclusions that I am out of line in some of the stuff I might have said and done. When in fact I feel I have been very restrained.
Well, "bilious" turned out to be the understatement of the week, with "stunted" [From Middle English stunnt, foolish, short-witted,] also being the shoe that appears to fit just right.
I'm not doing a happy dance, because I'm not happy. Bemused maybe, but not happy. The meltdown was both bizarre and sad (chipS)and I'm disappointed with the way the whole thing unfolded from TOP down. I don't like seeing people in positions of leadership turn away from or abdicate responsibility, refuse to resolve conflict and behave in ways that indicate lack of overall continuity and integrity.
Trooper York said... The woman like rcommal, DBQ and MamaM all spotted her for what she was. The dudes were oblivious.
**cough**
There was a battle fought here too. And just because I humor Inga from time to time doesn't mean I can't see her for what she is.
And, r,l, I agree with you and RAA about Mary. (I checked my emails with you back in March 2009 just in case). Here's one thing I don't think I ever shared. When I met Althouse and Meade in Madison it was at a public place--the University Student Union. We had a long chat, mostly about her blog. My two kids were there and sat through it bored as they were. When I brought up the subject of Mary, Althouse and Meade both looked at me and shushed me and said (paraphrasing) "shhsh--don't bring her up--she might be listening."
AllenS had problems with his computer and asked me to send him a new invitation. I did and he is listed on the roll. So I don't know why he hasn't posted here recently.
She loves to go after me and say all kinds of things about me. I think I agree with some of you that she is still reading us somehow. It is too much trouble to figure out how. I mean we are not doing anything wrong here so who cares?
I think it is a great idea to turn her blog private like this one and only allow subscribers to post. Of course that would really stop clicks and blog hits which is her goal. And it would also stop the money flow from the Amazon portal. So that is not gonna happen.
It will be back taking comments shortly. That Jay Retread guy saying that is right on the money.

ELB, is it kosher for you to link to a post here at TY?
Of course it is.
I welcome links.
I always thought he was the coolest one in the Mod Squad.
Of course he turned out to be a dick when he became Prince's father.
Well then I guess there's no mystery about how outsiders read the stuff here.

I'm still mystified. I was under the impression a person had to be permitted access to the TY blog, so someone without access who followed the EBL link would not find themselves entering the TY blog, but encounter instead the note that says permission is required.
Is that so?
I don't know, MamaM. You're probably right.
In which case I don't understand the point of a link to a blog that can only be read by people who've already read it.
Are all EBLs just traffic maximizers?
I hadn't read EBL's post prior to reading the link in the comment.
And I sure hadn't seen Groundskeeper Willie going so completely off the rails prior to following that link.
Go for it, EBL - I am sorry I compared you to Crack Emcee - his style is way more fractured and angry than yours.
What is more peaceful than a cow chewing her cud, I ask you that?
Chip, I see what you mean now. I put the link in more for my convenience and those who are permitted access here like you. If someone else links it from my site, they get blocked (but then they recognize Trooper has a blog it is just blocked).

And, lest he not be properly acknowledged, Vince Guaraldi was great!

William Holden got so blind drunk that he fell over, hit his head on his coffee table and bled to death from the wound. So there is that...
Chip, really? Oh oh. I will delete that link.
If you like those Mary comments over at the comments on the Althouse reader poll you should screen save them or copy them.
I am not Mary, but as a former student of Ann's she seems to be a wee bit upset with her.
*Mary* comments? Are you out of your fucking mind?

Just a thought.
To back up what rcommal said I would never let Mary post here as she is a loon of the first water. Just sayn'

It is strange how things go in a circle.
I think that in fact this current controversy tracks the one last year and is just going one step further.
The comments will be back in a week since the commenters make that blog.
A junkie has to shoot up.
Wait and see.
Just sayin', so to speak, as you say.
I get the issues.
I despise the grave-dancing.
No you don't get the issues. Not really because you don't all of them and I can't reveal them to you because they involve other people.
Let me just say this.
They deserve it. Every bit of it.
At least that is my opinion. Just sayn'
There are people I never would have met, in person, telephonically or via email, had it not been for the comments section of TOP.
There are businesses that I have patronized because I met them through TOP.
If there is no other purpose, then it has served a fine purpose.
And I whole-heartedly agree with R,L about Mary.
They brought it on themselves.
The attacks went both ways but they couldn't handle it. So they were punks. Pussies. Losers. Everything that demented twat was calling her commenters all week.
I don't really want to dance. But I do have to take a leak.
Look it had a good run for a while. I agree with Ruth Anne. I treasure many of the people I met there and who post here.
But I met a lot of good people in the subway but I don't ride it anymore because it got really dirty and smelly again just like it was in the 1970's.
Things change.

Watch and see.
I just don't want you to delete your comments. I like them too much!
I agree that the roots of the problem go way back. They have just been applying cheap peroxide to them and the hair is starting to fall out.
Allegedly.
Wait is that too mean?
Nah.
No you don't get the issues. Not really because you don't all of them and I can't reveal them to you because they involve other people.
Right back atcha, Troop. Same sitch. No rolling to anyone, it seems.
No ratting out anybody either. No posting that reveals somebody's real name where psycho's like Mary can come out to play.
You know like the EBL did to me today.
Why anyone would trust Meade with their real names is beyond me.
Simply put in my opinion they are as bad as it gets.
For the record, while I so much appreciate Ruthie's weighing in here, the email to which I referred was not one between me and her, FTR. Just in case anyone out there thought, erroneously, otherwise. The name recognizable is yet another.
I know you were emailing instapundit. We can keep that under our hat.
But I might spill the thing about Carl Bernstein if you get on my bad side. So watch out girlie.
As for real names, as well you know, Trooper York, Althouse has known mine from the start, among others who have also known it, soon enough to their own starts. You are among those others.

I am sure you would not be happy if they revealed your real name even thought they know it. Regardless of how many other commenters might know it. Just sayn'
What does "veiling shit" mean?
Screen names? Blogging was new then. The world was young. Who knew how it was all going to turn out?
If Althouse were pissed at you as much as she is pissed at me she would use your real name in a way to hurt you. Count on it.
And talk about dancing?
Inga is doing a victory dance over at the poll comment section that is still suspiciously open. How is that by the way?
Are they just full of shit?
You make the call sports fans.
Oh, bullshit. Seriously, Trooper, bullshit. I not just spotted, but called out, the Inga B.S. before ***anyone*** here at your blog did (and, by definition, the other blog as well). Hey you were 100% right about Inga and were one of the first to spot it. I was fooled and I thank you for your insight.
I was just mentioning how happy Inga is in the comments at TOP Poll post that the comments were shut down. It is proof of your point.
So what is the bullshit?
The woman like rcommal, DBQ and MamaM all spotted her for what she was. The dudes were oblivious.
I mean I understand that because we normally don't really listen when you broads are talking. We just say "yes you are right dear" and think about baseball.
Or beer. Or sandwichs. Or Joey Heatherton and Barbara Eden to coin a phrase.
My wife gets mad at me when she hears how the manufacture lady talks to me. She is always yelling and lecturing me and the wife says how can I let her talk to me like that?

Bilious - from the olde English root Billy Martin. To become red faced with anger, then drive drunk into the ditch.
Yep, sure works in this case.
When Atticus shot the dog, nobody cried.
I'm just glad the Inga is actually a woman.
I thought she was a gay dude there for a while.

I thought that was really weird.
re Inga: I thought she was a gay dude there for a while.
There is that vibe...hence the overweening effort to provide physical evidence that she's a woman.
Trooper is the classic late night New Yorker. He is @ the top of his game after midnight. Great thread, folks..here and elsewhere.
RogerJ, I've been lamenting AllenS absence for some time. Welcome back, hope you stick around.
AllenS had problems with his computer and asked me to send him a new invitation. I did and he is listed on the roll. So I don't know why he hasn't posted here recently.
I think it is because he has nothing to say.
I think it is because he has nothing to say.
That never stopped me.
"There is that vibe...hence the overweening effort to provide physical evidence that she's a woman."
A survey years ago discovered that 34% of all "females" posting on the Internets were in fact gay dudes.
NTTATWWT
She is one sick puppy anyway you slice it and is proving it again in the remaining comments section.
I also think that it is quite funny when people say I am jealous of the Evil Blogger Lady.
It is more accurate to say I pity her.
I remember when she came to the store one day when we were filming "What Not to Wear."
You know what the crew kept asking me? "Who is that nasty dyke?"
And that was the gay guys who were saying that. The straight guys can't use that kind of language and keep their jobs.
The people who post at Trooper York are people who are happy in their life. They love their spouses or a settled in their solitude. They don't have something to prove and can laugh at themselves.
I thank everyone who posts here.
Even you spinelli.
I remember doing a composition back in school; I hated the teacher, and he knew it. He was an awful mediocrity. But this was one of the few occasions we had to actually work with an orchestra. I went to him with a theme, which he just scowled at and discouraged me from participating.
So I just wrote it all without help. Called it "Tempest in a Teapot". One of my fellow students said "I see a little boat floating through the teapot when the tiny storm strikes."
It was a pretty good theme.
I still hear it sometimes.
They had faces then.
@R,L
I have no idea if you're referring to me at all in some of the above comments, but in the odd chance you are I want you to know that I don't mind if you name me if that's the case. I'd prefer it, in fact. I realize I don't have any choice in the matter, but that's what's on my heart.
