Although the bed is not the best the pool is fantastic. So I will be spending as much time as I can on the deck and in the pool.
What sucks is that I can't enjoy a cold beer anymore. Or a hot dog. Nothing is better than a cold beer and a hot dog while listening to the game on the deck before you jump in the pool.
Still it should be very relaxing.

I'm not understanding why having a cold beer and a hot dog every now and then is verboten, while running and stocking a store, undergoing a major renovation and serving as GC is apparently on the OK list of stressful things to do for a recovering heart patient. Seems close to straining the gnat while swallowing the camel, the camel driver, and a whole flying carpet full of craziness.
I'm glad to hear you're taking time off, and hope you're able to enjoy the pool and time spent together away from store action.
It is just that I am not supposed to
have it because of the salt content.
Hey I am going to cheat. I will have a dog with the works. No beer though. It is easier to give up the alcohol than the food.
Thank you for the kind words.
We need to rest.
I don't think a beer will kill you unless its English Stout - which can mess you up -big time.
But Lisa did decide that we are going to sneak the pillow top and some sheets into the house.
Since we make the beds they will never know.
I would rather have an extra hot dog or burger.
I lost the taste for alcohol frankly. I don't miss it.
Well not as much as burgers, franks and sausage.
There are plenty of N/A beers out there.
Hell, you could start drinking Ariel Chard too.

Blood thinners and alcohol don't mix.
thanks, chickelit. I'm tuned now. I'm also under the impression that General Contracting responsibilities can not only cause one's blood run cold, they can also make it boil.
Trooper, It's good you're talking about this. We are approaching the one year anniversary of our meeting and then your "episode." I gave up drinking for 8 years when I decided to lose weight[~50-60 lbs.] the right way, gradually and lifestyle. Like you, I was blessed in that giving up booze was no big deal. I go through spurts now. I have my diabetes under control but it is a progressive mofo. My numbers were bad the last time so I now have maybe 4-5 drinks a month. Like you, it's the food. And for a diabetic, pasta is bad. So, I have it infrequently. I tried the whole wheat, FUCK THAT!! I also have to keep my cholesterol in check so the sausage, salami, etc. is also infrequent. But, NOTHING should ever be taboo. I made the lifestyle change and realized making things taboo just creates resentment and cravings.
Hell man, this is like a support group, or as my daughter calls them kiddingly, a comfort group. We're glad you got religion as they say, Big Boy. We all have some life experiences to share w/ you that can be of help. We are so glad you are here. And, as I have said previously, 60 was deeply concerned for you during your episode. He was a pain in the ass to be honest. Just sayn'
Switch to Genesee beer, then you won't mind giving it up.
windbag, Come on, man. "Genny" ain't that bad. How about Naragansett? That is piss. I read an interesting piece in the Wall Street Journal about Dr. Sueess yesterday. He was an ad man out of Dartmouth and 'Gansett was one of his clients.
It isn't difficult to stop drinking beer. I do it most nights, right before going to bed.
Trooper, get rested! Stress is a mofo that will kill you without any warning.
Saw my doctor in late July. Blood pressure was high. 150/104
That's not high, that's danger.
Gets high when I don't exercise and I stopped doing that regularly about 2 years ago when I hurt my foot (exterior tendenitis--from using those stupid vibram finger shoes).
Blood test show pre-diabetes.
My health is going down hill.
Didn't help having another kid, a 2 year old, then a mother-in-law in the house (she left a couple weeks ago). Sister-in-law left yesterday.
Clearly I had to make changes. So, risked the foot, starting walking/running everyday. So far, so good. Changed my diet. Low salt too. Not as strict, but for me, pretty big change.
I'm mentioning this because part of my impetus was Trooper's story, and part of my discipline has been seeing Trooper make the changes.
Lost 12 pounds since mid-July. Blood pressure down, but not quite where I want it. So, keeping at it.
Thanks for the inspiration.
PaddyO, You got religion! Kudos. Get to a point where you miss it when you don't exercise. When you get there, you are a true convert. You will get to see your grandkids. Quite a reward.
preach it!
Cut out the carbs and grains (corn included), eat more healthy meats and lots of green and brightly colored veggies. The only oils you should use are olive, avocado, and coconut. You can also use ghee and lard in moderation. Eggs, pork chops, chicken, and plenty of fish. Limit your deserts to fruit, with occasionally some real whipped cream. Your numbers will all improve and you all will be fine.
