Congratulations to a True Met!

Congratulations to Roberto Alomar on his election to the Hall of Fame.

I consider Roberto a "True Met" as his career declined as soon as he joined the team. And he is a famous world class fanook like many other Met hero's like Rusty Staub and Mike Piazza. Not that there is anything wrong with that. More power to him.

I guess the best way to sum him up is that he was elected because he had an infectious personality.

I've seen you use the word "fanook" now and again and it reminded me of a word that I learned in Italy back in '79 which rhymes with (and is just an aspiration away from) "pinnochio."

non che ci sia qualcosa di sbagliato in questo.

A quick check in Urban Dictionary confirmed the origin of the word.

Wikipedia states: a native of Salinas, Puerto Rico, Alomar was a switch-hitter.

Alomar is despicable and should not be in the HoF. Has Hirschbeck gotten tested?

My parents called Rusty Staub the Big Kraut. Twenty years before that they called Duke Snider the Big Kraut. But they never called Hank Bauer the Big Kraut because a Yankee, well you just didn't call a successful businessman the Big Kraut.
