He is posting snippets of his new work "Tears of the Sun" which is the latest volume in his superb series called "Emberverse II" that continues the adventures of Rudi Mackenzie and the rest of his friends in the battle against the false Prophet of the Cutters.
As you know he likes to post chapters of his new work as a come on for the next book and like a dope I fall for it every time and feverishly go to his site smstirling.com where you can read these snippets.

Is there for honest poverty
That hings his head, an' a' that?
The coward slave, we pass him by --
We dare be poor for a' that!
For a' that, an' a' that,
Our toils obscure, an' a' that,
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that.
What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin grey, an' a' that?
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine --
A man's a man for a' that.
For a' that an' a' that,
The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor,
Is king o' men for a' that.
Looks like #3 fits too, especially in light of the challenge by/to the cub over in The Garden. Where a SDS with a purportedly large nutsack, and a chipmunk sidekick have reportedly been chittering about the measure of a certain Mr York's acumen, sanity and manly ability to discern the sharp end of the sword.
Ye see yon birkie ca'd 'a lord,'
Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that?
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a cuif for a' that.
For a' that, an' a' that,
His ribband, star, an' a' that,
The man o' independent mind,
He looks an' laughs at a' that.
(In honest poverty MamaM had to use the Standard English translation to make it through and be sure it said what she read.)
While MamaM has no doubts as to the outcome of the challenge, she considers Mr York a fit subject for this form of torture from SM Stirling.
I must go deeper and even stronger into my treasure mine and stint nothing of time, toil, or torture.
