We powerwashed the backyard and cleaned everything including the barn. Didn't know I had a barn did you....you hicks! Ha. Brooklyn has everything.
The plants on the table are waiting for replanting and you can see the two Lilac bushs in front of the barn.
It was a lot of work but it was worth it for our urban oasis. We love our backyard.

Holy concrete jungle!
You forgot to include the back yard in the picture.
Who knew the Garden had a barn? Almost a farm after all!
My back yard is all concrete too. It was too small for grass, so when I put the garage in, I just told them to cover everything in concrete.
No grass to mow and my homeless handyman cleans up after the dog.
Almost a farm after all!
Out on the farm we'll be
Swimming with the mother duck
Deep in the mitten where
Lions and tigers come running
Just to steal your luck
That is the backyard Sixty. Pretty spacious by Brooklyn standards I must say.
I don't live in the boonies with a big expanse in my backyard. We are cheek to jowl so to speak.
Yeah, that'd be hard for me if I lived in NYC.
I've always had a yard. The bigger the better.
The best was living in the Santa Monica mountains, I think. It took ten minutes to get to the main drag, which seems like a really long time somehow, but it was worth it.
On the other hand I can walk outside my door and thirty restaurants are open till one in the morning in a twenty block radius. Plus bars and lounges as well. So I can have the best of both worlds.
And I don't have to mow the lawn.
You don't mow the lawn when you live in the mountains.
You do clear the brush yearly so that it doesn't burn everything up, though.
I remember a buddy of mine editorializing in his magazine (after moving from Chicago to Scottsdale) that, no, you couldn't get kimchee delivered at 3AM in Scottsdale—but how often do you want kimchee at 3AM?
I do like how you can just hose off the place after a hard night of partying and be done with it--everything just washes down the drain.
"but how often do you want kimchee at 3AM?"
True but you might want a good pizza or some Chinese or even Thai.
We bopped by the Thai joint and got spring rolls at midnight last night. Pretty cool.
They were bitching that they didn't get their check from Men in Black yet either.

Back when the Spahn Ranch was in its heydey.
Well, that would be the Santa Susana Mountains 20-30 years before I was living in the SaMos, but they all kind of look alike.
