You just can't escape him....he's like the blob or something.

Lately I have been reading "Legal Insurrection" as my go to law blog. I always liked it but now I want to give him more clicks so he can move up in the blog rankings.

He has an article about the ubiquitous Chris Christie. In he postulates what we have long been saying. That Chris Christie is the media's favorite Republican because they can build him up as a "reasonable" Republican Rhino who "has a chance to get elected." Then as soon as he gets the nomination they destroy him like they did to McCain and Romney. Right out of their old playbook.

I don't understand how people can't get this. I mean I have been having a lot of arguments about it. Reader-I-am quit this blog over it. I just don't get it. Don't they understand that a Northeastern Rhino big government figure will not win an election for the Republican party. How many times do they have to get fooled.. I just don't get it.

I have to say that I have been very impressed with what Rand Paul is doing. Especailly with regard to the NSA and our personal security. So far he has my vote.

Now I have to go watch "Person of Interest" so I can have more government plots to worry about.

Can't stand Christie. He'll just be another McCain if nominated. It's obvious why the MSM likes RINOs like him, since using/discarding them is an effective strategy (over and over and over). The puzzling part is why the GOP falls for it every time. It's like Charlie Brown and Lucy and the football. Or like crazy chicks that keep picking the same type of loser over and over.

That made think of girls who go for gay dudes over and over.

Post to follow.

Kris Kristiekreme is no national figure. He may be the size of a small nation, but that is about it.

Its interesting that the Republicans keep nominating guys who opposed Reagan's Nomination in 1980. And guys who can't figure out whether they're pro-life or pro-choice.

Bush I, Bush II, Dole, Romney, McCain, Christie.

Not one Reaganite in the bunch. And flip-floppers on abortion.

The reason you end up with RINO's is all the moderates rally around the least conservative candidate. Meanwhile the conservatives split there vote (usually SoCon vs. eCon). Plus the RINO's always fool X% of the Conservatives by flip-flopping and TALKING conservative during the primaries.

McCain was actually Mr. Border Security until he got nominated in 2008. For five months he claimed, he never even heard about Amnesty.

Just enough conservative always buy the act. Assume Christie will do the same in 2016.

Christie is this election cycle's McCain - the Republican favored by the liberal media.

Republicans are too often dumb enough to fall for this act, and predictably lose the subsequent election.

A good rule of thumb is to ask "which candidate does the media least like?" and then support that person. In the last cycle it would have been Gingrich.

In this cycle thus far it's Cruz, Rand the younger, and Walker.

And never take Ann Coulter's advice.

Coulter hated McCain and Romney but loves Christie. And she's skinny and probably hates fat people. Something to consider.

ndspinnelli, there is always this classic about Ann Coulter...

Although you could change the last name, the location and a few other details, and it could work for someone else we know.

Two things to avoid in the next nominee. First, avoid the next RINO media darling. We've seen how that goes every time. Second, avoid the populist candidate. Yes, Dr. Ben Carson is smart and articulate. So what? I've got a dozen friends as smart and articulate and well versed in libertarian/conservative thought. Are they as accomplished and well known as Dr. Carson? No.

The GOP crowd is desperate to find someone to lead, which is why we get "Carson for President," "Fred Thompson for President," "Alan Keyes for President," "Herman Cain for President," and so on. Just because a fresh face can deliver a spiel on free markets or lower taxes or 2nd amendment freedoms, that doesn't mean they can be President. Obama proved that campaigning and governing are two separate things. The last thing the GOP needs is its own empty chair.

The closest thing to a principled player seems (emphasis on SEEMS) to be either Cruz or Paul. There are a number of governors who could jump to national attention, but the hunt for skeletons is fierce and it's hard to tell who could survive the process. Hell, the Dems were attacking Santorum's family for not grieving over the loss of a child in the proper manner. It's a rough crowd.

In short, we're fucked. Western civilization is in decline, and it's our misfortune to be selected to ride it down. Hopefully, we've passed on enough to future generations to be able to piece it back together.

I like both Cruz and Paul (a lot), but Cruz is too green (as in new to pull it off). Paul is too dovish and I do not want to see an isolationist as CIC (sorry the world is a dangerous place and I want to be fighting them over there as opposed to over here).

That said, I love Paul's domestic/fiscal policy.

Someone like Scott Walker could pull it together. To beat Hillary you do need someone who can bring in conservatives, establishment republicans, indies and others to make it happen.

The fat man, however, is a non starter.

Hey I hate towelheads as much as the next guy but I could go for someone who doesn't send our guys overseas to die for nothing.

America First I say.

Evi, That Ann Coulter website has obviously been around awhile, but that was the first time for me. Hilarious.

I like to read Coulter, I CAN'T STAND to listen to her.

Christie is fucked over the Fort Lee deal. While a democrat could blow it off, fat boy looks the bully part. No one likes a bully, even other bullies.

I have no intention of defending him, given what a dick he has been to conservatives.

Trooper York said...

Oh they will clean him off and polish him up in time to try to palm him off on Republicans. Just wait and see.

I hope we don't get fooled again.

Romney had Chris Christie on his short list for VP running mate. The final decision came down to either Christie or Ryan and Ryan was selected because Christie couldn't pass the vetting process.

Jersey boys can have that problem.

Don't look for Christie to be the elephant party's nominee. The nominee needs to be squeaky clean, and that isn't how the Governor of the Soprano State is.

I am puzzled by the timing of this bridge controversy - seems that if they were going to pump him up like a parade balloon then shoot darts at him they would have waited a bit longer.
