I am working on the menu for Christmas day. Ravioli and meatballs and roast pork and roasted potato and some other great sides are already on the menu. But my little cousin requested sausage and peppers old school style. My aunts used to make them in the feast as they had a stand in San Genaro and St. Rosalie and all the big time feasts. They gave it up just a few years ago but every once in a while I like to whip up a batch. The only concession I have made is that I hate to work with fresh peppers because they take so long to cook. So now I use Mancini peppers from the jar which means I can make this dish in about half and hour. I just barbecue the sausages outside while I fry up some onions. Then I add the peppers and some red pepper to the mix for some punch. After the meat is cooked I slice it up and add it to the mix to soak up the oil and the flavor. Good eatin'

I was hoping we would get Derek Lowe instead but I guess I have to be happy. They gave Andy Petitite a one year take it or leave it offer. The Yankees are serious this year. They are going to spend the money since they have to fill the new stadium. With the economy the way it is I think they are worried about the corporate money. So expect another couple of signings.
I really hope we get Manny. That would be sweet.
