I think Branch Rickey might have made a good addition to this list. His contributions to basebal range very wide.

Which one owned the Expos?

I'd vote for the lady who owned the Cinncinati Reds. She had balls.

Basebal been veddy veddy good to me.

El Pollo, this lady might have owned the Reds.
She had all the balls in her family.

Note to self:

El Pollo does NOT like God jokes, but does serve up a tasty cracker. ;)

Welcome back, Troop.

I kinda liked Gabe Paul who was GM of the Cincinnati Reds in the 50s

Opus One Media said...

Wasn't GWB a GM or was he the owner?

Trooper York said...

Gabe Paul was a minority owner of both the Yankees and the Indians in the 1970's but was primarily a general manager. George gave him a tiny piece of the team when he bought the Yankees that he sold when he went back to run the Indians with Steve O'Niell another minority owner.

Steve O'Niell had one of the most famous qoutes ever about George,
"There is nothing as limited as being a limited partner of George Steinbrenner."

Yogi of course was just a player,
coach and manager. Not an owner.

I know! But he's a Zen master! Without even trying! (Which is the only way you can be a Zen master.)

Both, but never an owner-owner.
