I hear Meade's blog about dogs is very popular. Someone emailed me that he got an article in a newspaper or something.
Just think how popular it would be if he posted those photos he takes of dogs and the coeds who will do anything to pass his meal tickets class.
He would break Sitemeter or sumthin!

When, oh when, will Lem simply ban Meade straight out? The bullshit he laid on Synova about the sexist Hawaiian shirt feeding frenzy is no more than the ranting of a lunatic on a street corner. I realize there are no longer vagrancy laws, and tiptoeing around crazies on the sidewalk is a steady feature of modern urban life. But why do we have to put up with that when we stroll into Lem's quirky little cyber-buffet? Meade's world mostly consists in what is between his ears. He has done what he had to feed the workings of the distempered brain so located. But that should not mean the rest of us must stand by to oblige him, if all we want is to amble into Lem's to sample the new treats on offer.
I agree 100% with you Tim. I don't want to engage Meade directly as that just feeds into his sthick. So I just replied to Synova to support her and encourage her to post about stuff that interests her.
Meade has jumped in to dis Synova, Michael Haz, Chip Ahoy, Lem and Darcy but strangely never does that to Deborah who often comes to his defense. Very interesting.
I think it is wise that everyone ignores him when he shows up. Then he can not get traction.
He obviously was fishing for people to come over to TOP and nobody was biting.
Law prof and blogger Jonathon Turley was selected to represent the House in the House's challenge of Obama's extra-constitutional activities.
Law prof and blogger Ann Althouse was mentioned in a news article because she is to cheap to buy her husband his own dog.
Compare and contrast.
It's not about cheap. She's told the following story twice now, to my awareness, once on that odd video she put up after the Meltdown and once in the comment below posted a year later.
Today Dick walks Spot with a pooper-scooper."
Spot wasn't even leashed. No one walked Spot. Spot ran around and did what he liked.
Probably got hit by a car every year or so and got replaced by a new Spot, also called Spot.
It was risky of Mother and Father to go with a spotted cocker spaniel. Mother and Father were the daring type, I guess. In my 1950s family, they got a honey-colored cocker spaniel, named it Honey, and when it got hit by a car, they got another honey-colored spaniel, named it Honey, and no one had to tell the little daughter a dog had died. With a spotted cocker spaniel, a kid might get suspicious. I don't remember this paw being black.
Then Honey 2 got hit by a car, and my parents didn't keep up the scam with a Honey 3. "It's too sad when they die," my parents said.
Not like the daring Mother and Father of Dick and Jane. There's always another spotted cocker spaniel to palm off as "Spot."
Somehow nobody ever got the idea to put up a fence or tie up the dog.
Life in the 50s.
Why not get a dog of your own, or give your heart over to commenters who've formed something of a relationship with you over time? Because it hurts when they die, or become sick or encounter hardships that can't be fixed or explained away.
That kind of betrayal, substituting one dog for another without being honest and open about death and loss, leaves a scar that runs deep. So deep, even a funny story about it can't smooth it away.

Gosh! I wonder what that's about? Do you think they might know each other or have some offline connection IRL?
When a commenter presents with two or more faces, as does the person who writes as deborah, something is amiss. Same is true for Meade. What is absent for both of them is the consistent testimony of personal integrity over time. They both appear to prefer trumping and game playing over real connection while attempting to present themselves as though the opposite were true.
Behind the cheery, semi-flakey, semi-silly older woman shtick deborah puts out, resides someone sharper, more deliberate, and more calculating and manipulative than first appearances would indicate.
She doesn't ring true and hasn't since she started in with the cute nicks and the "I'll be your buddy" routine while saving up and not hesitating to later use the personal tidbits shared to skewer some of those same buddies down the road. She also appears to have a long memory about all things Althouse, offering comments on their personal lives that go beyond reader-only awareness.
And Pogo identified the other pair's behavior with his well place quotes from The Anonymous Conservative on Narcissism. It was not only fitting to the situation, the quote also led to a site and article I found useful.
Great insights as usual MamaM. You nailed Deborah right off.....err....wait a minute that's not right....oh yeah....you figured her out.
If you go over to Turley's post about taking this case it is vastly instructive.
Most people are congratulating him on his involvement in a historic case and trust his integrity.
The liberals are sure he sold out to the Republicans. They are sure to get even more crazed as the days go by.
Good times.
Trooper, you're right about the comments at Turley's. Most of the commenters are very respectful of Turley's integrity and love of the constitution.
And a few nut jobs want him to investigate Bush, the war powers act, and how come they cant get free healthcare. Of course, someone had to bring race into the comment stream.
Turley appears on Megyn Kelly's show form time to time; another reason to watch Megyn as this goes forward.
Great insights, indeed, Mama, particularly your 3:59.
Now, who would wear this to work? I want to buy one. I'd wear it in a heartbeat, with the caveat it would have to be under my tweed jacket and with a school tie.
Come to think of it, it wouldn't be too different from what I'd expect one of my colleagues at school to wear. He teaches piano, and he sometimes shows up in his nautical hat, wearing white shoes, a double-breasted, blue blazer, with an Hawaiian shirt under it all. (Query: Should it be "a Hawaiian," or "an Hawaiian?") A Thomas Lipton beard completes the seaworthy ensemble. He dresses this way because he owns a large sailboat, with which he entertains people with cruises to places like Newport when he's not on tour with his organ-accompanied silent movies. This gentleman knows how to have fun in life, and is a role model for us all, assuming, of course, you can play the complete works of Widor and be able to improvise an entire theater-organ accompaniment to "Wings" with a gleam in your eye and a smile on your face.
I'm afraid too many of the rest of us find ourselves improvising accompaniments to a variety of worn-out horror movies on keyboards of a different sort.
I wish you linked to that dog's death story, MamaM because I'm pretty sure I related a similar experience growing up in a comment there. But who didn't live so even a decade later?
chickelit The video version of that story was presented sometime in July of 2013. Her performance was noted here because Meade was waving his hand in front of her face and she didn't look good.
The story copied above can be found at: althouse.blogspot.com/2014/06/i-know-why-caged-bird-cannot-read-my.html?showComment=1403370798453#c4813081979436038436

Here's the video version, starting at the 1:03 mark. It's hard for me to watch, because I see the younger self that experienced and remembers the trauma showing up and my heart goes out to children who were confused by adult behavior regardless of how old the person who carries that memory might be. But she published it, so I guess it's fair to comment. Oddly enough, there's a dog in the house that shows up in the doorway later in the video who goes unmentioned.

Great comments, Tim an Mama. Very interesting, especially the linked article on narcissists.
MamaM and Tim, Thanks for your great comments. Tim, I learned listening to the classical station doing surveillance Mozart hated the flute. I'm certain you knew that. I thought of you when I heard that tidbit.
