ESPN baseball analyst Peter Gammons appeared on Boston radio station WEEI yesterday and referenced a rift between new Yankees teammates Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez.
"As you probably remember, there was a lot of testiness between Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira when they played in Texas together," Gammons told the radio station, according to Boston.com. "... And I don't think Alex really cares about communicating with other players, we know [that] from Derek Jeter.
"Also, we haven't really seen Teixeira in a situation where the expectations are really that high, and he's going to have to deal with them in New York. It will be very interesting to see how it goes with the Yankees."
Rodriguez and Teixeira, each a Scott Boras client, played together in Texas for one season, 2003, the first baseman's rookie year. Rodriguez was traded to the Yankees that offseason, and told ESPN Magazine he never would have signed with Texas if someone had said, "'Alex, it's going to be you and 24 kids.' Never. For no amount of money."
Teixeira was 24 years old at the time. After reported rifts with RangersNew York Rangers managers Buck Showalter and Ron Washington, Teixeira eventually was traded to the Braves in 2007, then to the Angels last season.
This offseason, Teixeira, a free agent, chose the YankeesNew York Yankees over the Red Sox and finalized his eight-year, $180 million contract this week, with his wife playing a major role at his introductory press conference.
"The Red Sox didn't know it, and in the end there was nothing they could do about it. He wanted to go to the Yankees, his wife doesn't like Boston -- apparently she doesn't like the stores on Newbury Street or something -- and in the end that's the way it goes," Gammons said.

I mean you have got to be kidding me? Gammons the Red Sox groupie wants to show seed of dissension in the Yankee clubhouse. Listen douche bag, everybody hates A-Rod. He's a tool. But he will get his hits and maybe stay out of the way and let us win. Teixeira will be a great addition to the club. But it is real classy to blame his wife for not signing with the Saux. It could be that she just hates Boston. A lot of people hate Boston. Because you know. It sucks.

Dang, I'm glad you don't hate the Cowboys like that, otherwise I couldn't be your bud.
I actualy have fond memories of the old Cowboys. The real Cowboys. Roger Staubach and Bob Lilly and Bob Hayes and Chuck Howley and Randy White. Those were the days.
It just got bad with Jerry Jones ya know. He is a little hard to take. You know who he reminds me of now?
Al Davis.
That's bad news for the 'Boys.
One of my best friends is a big time Steelers fan here in Brooklyn. You see they were good when he was growing up. He goes to Pittsburgh to see games and everything.
It's a good thing the Giants didn't meet them in the SuperBowl. We would of ended up in another fist fight. I'm too freaky old for that.
Looks like Cashman has plugged all the holes. On paper at least the Yanks appear unbeatable.
In the picture, is that John Marzano & Paul O'Neill?
A-Rod and Veriteck.
Would that be Buck ' mail me some Chinese Marching Dust' Showalter?
And Peter 'I'm not responsible for what I say because I had a stroke' Gammons?
That is right, Johnny Marz was with the Mariners when he rapped o'Neill.
