These days mostly Netflix, which includes all types of movies and seasons of TV shows. We get basic cable which lacks access to much of what others seem to watch. I think paying for more cable is a commie plot. Over half our stations are in Spanish.
I watch occasional "big events" live like debates, and some sports. I get all my news off the internet these days. I get some collateral TV damage from my wife who watches "Dancing with the Stars" and my kids who love "The Simpsons."
That sounds great, cl. I'm coming around to the idea that I don't need all of these channels either.
I really only watch sports regularly, and particularly tennis, which makes Tennis Channel very attractive to me. I have been watching more and more live tennis online, though.
The few shows that I'll watch if I happen to catch them: House, The Mentalist, Big Bang Theory, and NCIS. Hit or miss for all of those, especially if the Red Wings, Pistons or Tigers are on.
I need to sign up for Netflix.
My kid likes The Simpsons too, but likes Family Guy more. I have to admit that show is funny, even if I don't agree with the politics a lot.
What everybody likes about Netflix is the a la carte approach- you don't directly pay for things you don't watch. Plus they are starting to make more and more available as a downloads, hastening the day when TV and internet merge. I suppose Lackluster Online gives them good competition and keeps them honest, though I've never checked them out.
My 10-year old sons likes to watch "Family Guy" and "South Park" too.

You guys are really limiting yourself if you don't watch a lot of what is on cable.
FX in paticular has some great shows. The Shield, Rescue Me, Damages, and Nip and Tuck are all a lot of fun.
Big Love is starting again on HBO. You couldn't beat Deadwood or The Wire which were the two best shows on TV in the past four decades.

What you need to do is get digital cable with DVR. So you can record the shows easily on the harddrive and then wipe them out right away after you watch them.

You know I had free Showtime for a while and the Brotherhood series which is a rip off of Whitey Bulger in Boston was pretty good. Based on the same source material as The Departed.
Rome was great. Just not at the level of The Wire or Deadwood.
I love Deadwood more than Ice Cream but The Wire is the best TV series ever made bar none.
How I Met Your Mother is a very funny sitcom by the way.
The irony of an openly gay Doogie Howser playing a total womanizer is really funny.
Sort of like Titus pretending to be Warren Beatty or something.
I started with Netflix but couldn't keep up with it. I have the same two movies for a year now. I must be on their ten most wanted list.

Trooper: I'm totally with you on Deadwood and The Wire. I blogged about Dominic [Jimmy McNulty] being hubba-hubba and also Tim Olyphant. Oh, man. I just love seeing Bebie play the girlfriend on "The Office" because that girl has some range. She was also excellent in the Ben Affleck movie "Gone Baby Gone."
NetFlix has a new little contraption from a company named Roku. It costs a hundred bucks and it hooks up to your TV. Anything that is in your instant queue on the computer can be accessed and watched on your TV with just the click of a remote. We have about 75 movies queued up in the watch it now bin and Dave has been watching Adam-12 from the beginning. It's like watching a time capsule. Plus, he can have it on and it won't be offensive to the children. You buy the converter box right on the NetFlix site. It was the best hundred bux we spent this Christmas.

ChickenLittle: No problem. The one thing that surprised me about the gadget was that it was so little. I though it'd be like a small VCR but it's even smaller than that.
