Garage Mahal's Road Kill Korner

Now Garage is emailing me photos of him field dressing some of his road kill.

I'm a scared Norton!

For what it's worth, he's right about securing the orifices early in the butchery, and getting the intestines out as intact as possible.

But I'm from West-by-God-Virginia, and just sayin', no one I knew actually ate road kill (or at least copped to it).

That is exactly how I pictured garage.

Back when we lived in Vermont, my wife worked with a guy (a former Marine, no less) who was a vegetarian, but would eat road-kill.

As for GM, what's the deal? Gutting a deer is as hard and messy as changing the oil on your car. It is a little gross, but hardly difficult.

Yikes!!

You know how you get mental picture of someone through the internet or from their voice on the radio......well....that wasn't what I envisioned garagemahal looking like.

Yes. That is the procedure for field dressing. Keep the crap etc off of the meat and not spread all over the inside of the body cavity.

Oh. I don't know , I think it depends on whether you personally hit the critter or not. I certainly wouldn't want to scrape up old road kill, but when the deer kills itself on my vehicle.........it just seems wasteful.
