Michael Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzmichael......legally!
It seems that Ireland has approved gay marriage. By a pretty wide margin. The Church is in tatters in Ireland and this is another nail in the coffin. Or the cross as it were.
The big difference is that the people voted for it. Something that we never got a chance to do here. The question is what is the next step. Will everyone be forced to participate in the celebration of same sex marriages? Will the bakers and photographers and venues be destroyed if they do not comply?
I expect that is what will happen. I also expect that they will pass laws to force the Churches in Ireland to give the Sacrament of Marriage to same sex couples. Just as I expect to happen in the United States.
Then we will have to see what comes next.

Titus Über Alles.
You guys laughed (especially Spinelli).
Who's laughing now?
The West is committing suicide, Troop.
The Church will still be there to pick up the pieces once the suicidal party is over.
I hope so.
I think we will be having a much smaller church here in the United States.
Althouse let go a doozy of a post this morning. Fortunately, I got in early and turned on my "email me comments" option. This lets me see the comments she deletes.
The commenter Mary Glynn (who generally supports gay marriage as far as I can tell) ripped her a new one.
I guess there was no mention of Memorial Day. Typical.
I don't care about TOP.
When I want to kill some time and spout off I drop som turds at Turley.
I did some grade A trolling there yesterday.
I never tire of watching her squirm when she's called out by even her moderate commenters. What a fake. What an abuse of tenure.
Of course ol' gutsy Meade only goes after Spinelli's comment. And I seen one of the Althouse boys jumped in.
It is hard to enjoy the argument when it is just a repetition of tropes we have seen before. I bet that Evil Blogger Lady is trolling her own blog to get hits and comments.
Right now on Turley's blog an obvious moby is doing the same thing.
It is just silly.
I bet Shouting Thomas is going over there to smack the Evil Blogger Lady around.
It's not my job anymore.
Happy Memorial Day. I hope you all take a moment or two to contemplate the heroism of all who served, and especially those killed or wounded in service to our country.
I can report to you that the findings of my personal work as Director of Research here at the Institute of Applied Happiness has borne fruit. While the findings are dense, they can be reduced to an Executive Summary as follows:
"That which I do not read cannot cause me anger."
Weird, I know, and certainly unconventional, the science has been settled.
Sorry I didn't have time to put up my Memorial Day Posts but the store was surprisingly busy this weekend.
I agree with you Haz.
Some things are best left in the past.
"The West is committing suicide, Troop."
More to the point, both the Mets and Yankees have slipped below the horizon line! Although the distant rumbling of Yankee cannon could be heard today.
Oh sure, gripe about the Yanks and the Mets. They are on top of the moon, at least compared to the Brewers who are already pretty much out of the playoffs.
