Getting the store ready.

Well we are getting the store ready for them to film another "What Not to Wear" and I am trying to stay out of the way. We have the store dressed for summer with bathing suits and sun dresses displayed all over. We had to change that to fall since this episode will air in the fall and it can't look like Beach Blanket Bingo. So we broke out the fall stuff that we already have and put it on the manikins. The Anna Scholz snake skin trench coat is so cool, that people are knocking on the door and want to buy it now. In July. In eighty degree weather. That bodes well for the fall line.

Anyway, I went to the various shops and ordered the sandwiches and pastries for the crew. I used to make them myself but I don't have the freakin' time. I am hiding in the office now while the girls run around fixing up. I ate a pound of macaroni salad and had three beers. SSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Don't tell the wife. I am supposed to be cutting down.

Make sure you announce when it's going to be on.

Some of us don't keep track of when WNTW plays.

Some of us aggressively avoid it, even.

Jeter -overrated ? I never heard that. Maybe the poll only included newly arrived immigrant cab drivers in Boston.

1 lb of macaroni salad- I can relate to eating like that. Substitute the beer with some Jack Daniels.

Good game so far tonight. Was that Steinbrenner in the golf cart? He don't look so good.

I don't follow the show, but I have seen bits of it. Do you have an opinion of their tactics? I know there's a symbiosis of show producer and one-who-wishes-to-be-on-TV, but I have a feeling that they delight in beating up on the make-over person. Doesn't that run contrary to your women-are-beautiful-no-matter-the-size stance?

Not really Ruth Anne. The two stars of the show Stacy and Clinton are really very nice people. They actually work intensively with the subject and give them lots of good advice and feedback. So they spend a lot of time off camera building a relationship. Of course they snark and are sarcastic on camera because that’s what sells. Conflict is what people like to see not agreement. But the subjects know that the show actually has their best interests at heart and are willing to go along with the program. I sit in the back office and hear the production meetings as they discuss the subject and they are really trying to help. So most of the subjects really do have a good time.

Someone has approached us to do a reality show when they heard the stories about what goes on in the store and with our customers. But we won’t do it because they would want to focus on the negative. We might have a show for a season but not a store. My wife is great with helping customers find the right clothes for their shape and has done several pod casts. They are on our website and she is a natural in front of the camera. We would only do a positive show that helps people and unfortunately that’s not what the TV people want. But we will see what we will see

But hey Ruth Anne, I have a hook. I can get you on the show! Althouse wouldn't go for it but you could have some fun.

Although I am sure you know what to wear. But it's a free trip to New York and a $5,0000 shopping spree.

I actually like the show, especially because the subjects are not always body beautiful. After the process they look pretty nice and have a much better idea of how to dress for their particular body style.

I'm even more interested when it is somone who is built like myself. (14W to fit in the chest and then everything is too big or hanging off of my shoulders elsewhere) I HAVE picked up some good clues on what I should be wearing. I HATE HATE HATE clothes and shoe shopping and tend to just buy the same things to get it over with because most things just do not fit me and have to be altered.

You should post some photos of your store :-)

DBQ just go on our website Leeleesvalis.com to see plenty of photo's and other info. The wife has some podcasts up with tips and stuff that are a lot of fun. I don't really know how to imbed pictures and stuff in the blog but I will when I have a chance to figure it out.

Thanks, Trooper. My brother did some still photos for Mark Burnett on The Apprentice and The Contender. He said emphatically to never, ever, ever go on a reality TV show. I feel like I could use a wardrobe make-over. My Mom/Mao se Tung collection, while serviceable, doesn't sparkle.

Well from your picture Ruth Anne, I don’t think you fall into our size range of 10-28. But we are going on-line in a big way so you never know.

When I work the floor on a Saturday morning, I always tell the girls shopping to go outside of their comfort zone. I say to them “Do you think my comfort zone is selling ladies bloomers on a Saturday morning instead of playing golf or watching the game?” They think about that for a moment and agree to try some new stuff.

So how about a fuchsia Tadashi cocktail dress?

Troop--blogger makes it pretty easy. Just click on the picture icon when you're composing a post. Then it pops up a dialog that lets you browse your local hard drive for the picture, click OK and blogger takes care of the rest.

I'd watch any TV show with Ruth Anne in it.
