You can't force funny.

So many people are trying to come with jokes about Obama now that they are saying that no one will make fun of him. Almost all of these jokes are lame. You can't force funny, it just has to come naturally.

I started trying and gave it up.

I don't know about not being able to "force funny". If you're skilled at it, the funny comes pretty naturally. It's like music or art. If a bunch of monkeys sat down at the piano, you'd get pretty much the Althouse thread. You can't force any art, really.
