I was in Wyoming when I marched in Drum Corps. We were told we had to take off our earrings and not speak while we were there.
We performed at some huge rodeo.

Wyoming has a famous Drum and Bugle Corps called The Troopers. In the early days they were very western and traditional but because the activity has changed considerably they are now really gay and dramatic like the rest of the Drum and Bugle Corps.
Drum Corps started off very military and an extension of VFW organizations. Every mid size town had one.
But because of expenses of touring, equipment, buses and "pageantry" the activity only has approximately 25 units now. When I marched they have over 500 units...very sad.
I spun a rifle and saber back in the day and I was the best, natch and when it is kind of rainy out and I am walking to work I spin my umbrella and throw it up in the air have it rotate 4 times, do a 360 and then catch it between my legs....so there.
I was the Color Guard Captain of the Madison Scouts.
Boston used to be a hot bed of this activity but it was in connection with the catholic church. Every church in the Boston area had a color guard, now only a few do. One that is still running is St. Ann's from Neponset. I taught at St. Ann's for many years while I was in college. I love the name of the town Neponset. Neponset is right next to Dorchester and used to be all Irish but the Nips have taken over-so sad.
I have a cousin in Amherst and Portsmouth but never see them. There parents are the richest farmers in Deforest right next to "The Interstate". We call our roads "expressways" no interstates here. They have like 2000 acres and are millionaires. I always suck up to my aunt who own's the property when I am home hoping that she may throw me some cash when she croaks. She's 90, my moms says she likes me better than most her kids-so hopefully my work pays off.

Do you know one of my best friends was in the seminary.
He's a fag and didn't become a priest but he has these priest friends who are fags and have "partners" and they all go out to dinner and shop.
My friend said there are lots of gay priests.

I got this in the mail this week from one of my favorite priests:

I found this differentiation interesting, perplexing and thought provoking.
Perhaps because the sins of the flesh are part of our being and under "base control". Recognizing that some things are instinctual and difficult to control or rise above. Not impossible, but often unable at the best to be controlled.
While the sins of the spirit are those things that you have a choice in committing. There is no biological imperative to steal, cheat, adultery (well....maybe on that one not so much...gonads and all). But those are sins that intellectually we should be able to control.
For Titus: I had my mammogram done the other day. It is so weird to have another woman positioning my tits in the squeeze machine.
DBQ, There's a flick called, Please Give. It's ok. However, the movie starts w/ a series of women having their tits squeezed into that machines. I knew it sucked, however seeing it on the big screen was visually disturbing.

When it comes to traits I most appreciate in mammogram techs, competence comes up first, followed by easy graciousness, matter of fact directness, and a splash of compassion combined with personal awareness of what the procedure entails and signifies. Gentle, kind and loving is nice but not enough.
