It's De Blasio time

So Comrade Mayor De Blasio was late as usual to the St Patricks Day parade in the Rockaways. He came a half an hour late and arrived by boat. Which infuriated the people in the Rockaways since he canceled their ferry service.

The mostly old white crowd mocked and jeered at him with the "Worst Mayor Ever" chant which is pretty interesting when you consider most of them are old enough to remember Abe Beame and David Dinkins. Comrade De Blasio shrugged it off as he always does and pretended like everything was fine. Of course he is not marching in the farce of the regular St Paddy's Day parade because there is only one gay group marching. He wants every gay group to be able to march waving dildoes and wearing ass less chaps.

That won't happen until next year based on our Cardinal that ever so brave Cardinal Dolan. He needs time to "evolve to that standard." Give him time. He will get there.

After all. Who is he to judge.

Well, the mayor is a mayor called Mayor Abe Beame
And he dreamed up this here Big Mac scheme
Well, that big scheme kinda petered out
And President Ford had to bail them out

I don’t think his heart was in it though

Clinton was always late for everything, except orgies.

NYC's future is a mystery...to me at least. On the one hand it is now a minority majority city, like Chicago, which has no future. On the other hand there's an incredible building boom going on in midtown Manhattan (from what I read, I haven't actually been back in years) that's altering the skyline. I don't know how many skyscrapers are going up to house the uber-rich, those transient "New Yorkers." And of course there's the transformation of Brooklyn, large stretches of it anyway, from blue collar to more expensive real estate than Manhattan! You know DeBlasio won't do anything when subway crime ticks up and when the schvartzes start wilding on Madison Avenue. And I doubt a second Giuliani could ever be elected given the demographics. But NYC is, or at least it has been till now, "different." Its future stumps me.

Abe Beam reminds me of my favorite WF Buckley book "The Unmaking of a Mayor" - describing his run for Mayor in 1965.

Even allowing for the fact that WFB got only 13% of the vote, the change from WFB to De Blasio is amazing.

Communists don't need to be on time. After all, the peons can wait for you to arrive.
