Same shit different day

So someone emailed me a link where one of our favorite commenters was getting into it with a former commenter who has seemed to go off the deep end. This former commenter asked to be dropped from our blog and was always both obscure and argumentative. Her opinion of herself was both highly inflated and lacking any basis in fact since her posts were almost incomprehensible.

Anyhoo. I am glad it has nothing to do with me. But some dudes just can't stay away from bad chemical reactions. Just sayn''

Reader remains an enigma.

The Madison shooting story is an interesting look at the city's politics.

I just can't look away -- it's like a train wreck.

Reader is a piece of work. I am glad I don't have to deal with that craziness anymore.

Reader dropped me on Facebook some time ago (thank God), but even there I can't avoid her completely. The other day, an old FB friend who was on Ahouse for a while, but who is basically a bud of Annie Gottlieb, put up one of her regular amusing posts about working life. I made a vanilla-flavored comment, because I like this person, who is sane and funny, and, like Annie G, does pretty much the same freelance editorial work my wife does, and because I, too, have worked for assholes (the subject of the post). Anyway, who should show up but Reader, spinning all sorts of insane fantasies. I thought about posting a reply, but bit my virtual tongue. My friend put up a nicey, amusing response, and shut down further comments. She's still friends with Reader, but it's in-you-face obvious that Reader has problems. I know Ruth Anne visited Rcommal personally a while ago and found nothing amiss. But, frankly, when someone goes on a self-righteous tear, imagining all sorts of things not in evidence about a straightforward comment/complaint about work that anyone could make, well, I think we have an issue. I'm going to try to block Rcommal completely on FB, although I'm not sure how that would work in a situation like I just described.
Sighhh...

I would reconsider that, Tim. You and she must have lots in common--music for example. It would be a pity to lose that. I've spoken to her on the phone (but not lately) and found her to be very personable and perceptive. I think she holds her friends to high standards.

Whenever she strikes me the wrong way, she also has a way of making me ask myself "do others see me that way?"

Chickelit: I agree that we HAD lots in common. In fact, she was one of my best online buds at one time. Unfortunately, she's gone completely crazy. All I know is what she writes, and the little I've seen in the past year or two is invariably bonkers. I follow Annie Gottlieb on FB, and as a reality check on my old Althousian crew, she's very revealing. She's gotten better with age, if anything, and is real gem in every way. The person I mentioned in my comment is the same way. I'm amazed she maintains her sense of humor, which, again, has gotten better over the years. Rcommal has gone in an entirely different direction. Everything I see by her—we have 2 or 3 friends in common, so I run into an occasional comment—either makes no sense or is weird as hell. It's a simple as that. Something as Gone Wrong, and, frankly, I have too much else to worry about to have her pop up in my otherwise pleasant FB experience.
Anyway, so it goes.
