In my recap I forgot to give my review of Sam's slice. It was great the prototypical Brooklyn Slice. Made in a steel two decker oven it is made with Polly O cows milk mozzarella, olive oil and San Marizano tomato sauce that was cooked before it was put on the slice. The sauce had traces of basil and garlic and was quite sweet to the taste. Easy to fold and great to eat it is the perfect "Brooklyn Slice."
We are going back tonight for some more.

Man, I miss that NYC pizza.....good stuff...
Hey Troop, Monte's Venetian Room in Gowanus is reopening. The Post calls it "a legend." So there's another joint you have to haul yourself to and critique. It's a hard slog but someone's gotta do it.
I live in rural North Carolina, where my neighbors will drive an hour-and-a-quarter to go stand in line for close to an hour to eat at Olive Garden, then remark on how wonderful it was.
Pray for me.
That's depressing Windbag.
I am totally jel about Troops pizza adventures.
Good food is just so fucking good. Especially pizza done right.
Italian guys that flip pizzas are also really fucking hot.
Flour on their pants, by their ass. Wearing a tanky. Nice armpit hair, maybe a little smelly, deep dark eyes, black wavy hair, balls hung low.
Yum.
I love blue collar trade.
I make my own pizza. It's not NY pizzeria quality, but it's pretty damn good, and legendary with our friends. Necessity is the mother and all that.
Wow, the things I learn from Titus, I never see the guy,I'm always watching to see that the pizza dough doesn't hit the ceiling.
Where Haz Michael been? He used to sling pizza. Ruth Anne and I determined that he made pizza for both of us at the East and West side Shakey's in Madison when we were kids.
I was good friend with the dude who used to own Montes. We used to hang out in the same bar and hit on the owner who was hot stuff. In fact most of the restaruant guys in the neighborhood did that at around four in the morning on Saturday mornings. Good times.

The thing about Montes is that it was a neighborhood joint like Sams, Casa Rosa and Red Rose on Smith St. Basic southern Italian cuisne like grandma used to make.
"Sam's chops" reminds me of "The Brady Bunch" and I don't mean Eve's Plumbs.
Do people in Brooklyn really pronounce "pizzeria" like Danny Aiello in "Do The Right Thing?"
I don't like sweet tomato sauce, particularly if it's sweet because they've poured sugar into it.
Of course he was closed when we went there for dinner
He owns the building and can close whenever he wants. Thats one of the reasons I never make plans to go there.
