When a Superhero asks for a poll well you just have to do it.

One of our superhero's has called for a poll. Our very own reader-i-am said the topic of superheros called for a poll. And here it is.

Which is you favorite depiction of a Superhero by the artist who defined the character?

Thor by Jack Kirby

Green Lantern by Gil Kane

Spiderman by Steve Ditko

Batman by Gil Kane

Luke Cage by Jack Kirby

These are in my opinion the best drawings of Superheros that I loved and I would love to find out which one is your favorite.

(Don't you love how Luke stole the Crack Emcee's threads)

I grew up in the late 50's, early 60's addicted to Superman and Batman comics but thinking back on it now, never had any comic books in the house.

My comic book reading happened in Bruno's barber shop where there was a corner table with a pile, a mound of comics that seemed at least 2 feet high. It seemed that every different comic book was in that pile and we would riffle through to find one not yet read.

At least 2 times out of 10 my Mother would send me back to Bruno's because she said he didn't cut my hair short enough, that used to mortify me.

Voting "present"

Silver Surfer rules!

I am with the little chicken - with no Silver Surfer this poll is as illegitimate as one of Arnold's offspring.

Hi Gang. Checking in from a library computer in Moab, Utah, where it's raining! This is the desert but it's not cooperating so I'm making the most of being stuck indoors.

Batman, I guess. But all are sad seconds to Superman.

Spiderman without question. The most realistically muscular; like a coiled spring.

My cousin had every Marvel comic from about 1963 onward (and most DC comics); in fact he still has them, several are worth well into five figures.

So much for his parents berating him for wasting his money on trash.

Yeah, my parents threw away my Silver Surfer #1. I guess that's why those that remain are worth what they are.

I love Green Lantern's outfit the best so I voted for Green Lantern.

As far as what any of their superpowers are I have no clue.

I do know all the characters of Josey and the Pussycats though!

At this stage of life, men who love pooches get MamaM's vote.

They all have special superhero powers. Especially Luke Cage.

He will slap a bitch.

Cage was great in "Raising Arizona". Funny, funny movie.

My mom had hundreds of Carl Barks' Uncle Scrooge comics in pristine condition. All individually wrppaed.

They sell for $3K-$4K these days.

When she went off to college, her mom burned them.

Carl Barks wrote the best Scrooges ever. Unca Scrooge taught me everything I needed to know about money - get it, keep it, move along.

Upon seeing the poll up at the left corner of your blog, I honestly thought I'd be going for Green Lantern (with Thor just behind; to pick Spiderman would be a sheer nod to my husband and to my brother, both of whom were total fans in childhood). But then I read your post with its parameters, looked at the illustrations, and, now having come back a number of times, I'm still drawn to the Batman sketch, as I was when I first looked at the actual post. So that's what I'm going with, just as soon as I post this comment.

Thanks for the poll-nod, Troop.

In 1959-1963 when we went on vacation to Ocean City, NJ, there was an unbelievably enormous comic book store. We still marvel at it when we reminisce [like how I used the word Marvel there?].

Sorry for the OT, but:

AJ, you're in the Philly area, right? I'm not precisely sure what era you're from, but were you listening to local Delaware Valley Bands in the '70s, 80s, early '90s?

Reader- yes I graduated HS in 1970.
