Oh Shirt!
The new Hawaiian Shirts are in! Fresh from Oahu and the Honolulu Shirt company is a new batch of shirts for the new season.
I am very happy!
Here we have a new favorite Florida style shirt with alligators and killer whales. As well as a simple flowery one for more sedate occasions. You know. Like church.
Here we have two of our favorite recurring motifs. Drunken parrots and tropical drinks. They just go together.
These are my two favorites. You have already seen the Florida one. But the gambling one is way cool. it has cards and a drink and dice and chips. But best of all it has a stubby cigar sitting on an ashtray that looks like a penis. Right on your nipple. Makes a statement you know what I mean?
Of course the wife is a fashionista and asked me what was I thinking? I told her "Hey they were originally $100 but they were on sale for $19.99 Why would they do that?" She said "I think I know."
I don't care. I like them. They are officially in the rotation.

I like them too. Best of all is when I can wear them in Hawaii.
I want. Tell me how.
Er...do they overhang the waist, mine a bit pot bellied these days, enough to cover my you know what...by Smith & Wesson not what you were about to wise crack about.
Oh, and are they cotton or linen, or are they chemical shit that Chickelit would like :) ?
Makes a difference... 2 if chemical, 4 if cotton/linen.
Have you you made it back to...You know. Like church?
Where? need several.
You can get these shirts at The Hawaiian Shirt Store out of Honolulu. They usually ship out in a couple of days. I got my shirts in NY in four days using regular US mail.
They have various fabrics but I always get 100% cotton. Well most of the time unless there is a print I really like. They go up to size 3x which was what I used to get but now I am down to 2x which makes me feel good.
It is the official Hawaiian shirt company of the Trooper York Blog.
Some of them are on sale for about twenty bucks. A bargain if there ever was one.
Thank God I made it back to Church.
I am trying to go back during the week as well but that is very tough.
These are the kinds of shirts Brad Pitt and George Clooney would wear if they had balls.
I made my will out using legal zoom and now when it comes time to sign it in front of a notary public I find that notary publics in NY State don't notarize wills and lawyers won't notarize it either since they didn't draw it up. I can't even get exiting right. Someone suggested I drive down to Pennsylvania where the notaries are "looser." What a farce.
ricpic - most banks have a notary who will witness signatures. Also, check online to see if there are exceptions to requiring a notary.
Haz - I went into a bank today and they wouldn't notarize, only because it's a will. This is apparently a state by state thing and New York prohibits notarizing a will...or at least strongly discourages. I'm hedging only because one of the lower level (can't think of the title) workers I spoke to at a law firm said that that is not the law. But the three notary publics (admittedly not a large sampling) I tried to get this done with immediately said no because it's NY and it's a will.
I also asked if I could just sign the thing and be done with it (without notarization) and was told, yes, but that would not provide protection against someone contesting the will.
Troop...thanks for the shirt link. I need some more casual loose cotton shirts, and the Guayabera Shirts locally are not often cotton or linen...the one linen one I found was about $150 each....and no pockets...e.g., what's the point? Just go with the Hawaiian design.
Haven't worn "Hawaiian" style shirts for a few years now...I miss the easy comfortable fit...so I will be buying a half dozen. My newest rule is if I ad something to my wardrobe collection, I must donate something, in near mint condition, from it to charity....adiós to a half dozen very nice button down pinpoint shirts...hello gaudy baggy comfort. clothes.
ricpic you can just get witnesses to witness your signing. You do not have to actually have a notary. That will stand up in court.
It keeps occurring to me (haunting?) that my new found desire to have some new Hawaiian shirts, versus the African prints from Orvis, is reminiscent of my dad, who wore them all the time. The collars lay down, they are comfortable....could it be that at 71 I am looking for the same thing he knew instinctively? Damn...I am become obvious!
BTW...the historical links and information, dating to 2010, that recently were featured on TY Blog, were great.
Not only that, but a bit humbling to me. I can be one aggressive guy, usually with good reason, but occasionally just because I am just that way. The Internet is safe because I cannot do instantly what I might do face to face. And that is a good thing.
It is good to be knocked down a peg or two, even if in the privacy of my own mind.
By the way Lisa wants to apologize to all of your wives or partners in advance for your choices in haberdashery.
Love the shirts.
I will visit your shop next time I'm in Brooklyn.
