Devastated by being even peripherally involved in such chicanery, the very moral Earl Morrall sought redemption for many years. A devout Catholic, he prayed and meditated for many years even briefly joining a Monastery where he met the famous author and mystic Thomas Merton. It was at the Monastery at the suggestion of Brother Merton that the former quarterback devised a plan to travel around the country righting wrongs perpetrated by the NFL on the unsuspecting citizens of the United States.
