Sale day!!!!

We are having a big sale this weekend as it is almost time for the change of season. Even though it snowed on Monday it is about 50 degrees today and everyone is walking around in shirt sleeves and shorts. Heh.

We put a bunch of stuff at 50% off just to move it so we can put out the spring stuff. As you can imagine it is pretty hard to sell winter coats when it's 50 degrees out but we have to give it a shot.

Our industry is in a bad spot right now. Lots of stores have gone out of business. We had dinner with a vendor last night who told us that she personally knew of 14 stores that closed up in the last two months. Now they were not "plus" stores but it is pretty scary none the less. Our problem is that a lot of vendors are either in trouble or not cutting plus at all. So there will be a real shortage of goods available. That's why we are cutting limited runs of 18 dresses or so in different fabrics in dress bodies that we know work really well. A lot of them are pre-sold as we show the sample and some of the girls just pay for them then and there because we only have 18 of them in total. So that is a strategy that seems to be working.

We just have to keep grinding it out.

Good luck, Trooper!

It pains me that so many people are working so hard to stay afloat.

And they are not the ones who are going to be rewarded anymore.

Thanks guys but the sale went very well. A couple of the recurring problems that I will talk about in a little while. But otherwise it went great.

Good luck! One of the great things you have going is a niche- making bbws look great- business. Just do some creative marketing and try to hold on.

Thanks Peter but we are doing fine. The problem is with the suppliers and vendors. They are feaking out. As stores die there are fewer people that will buy the goods. Fewer cutting tickets. Less choices.

It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Tell me about it. I was a well-compensated exec for a home building company 14 months ago. Now I drive school bus. Don't expect to go back to home building any time soon.

Keep doing what you're doing. From your posts, it sounds like got the good sense necessary to get through the storm.
