At the risk of displaying my psychological problems I have to post a photo of my lunch at Ben's Kosher Deli last week. I fucked up. Again.
I am going this Friday for an echo cardiogram and I ate out three times last week. We had Thai food one night and Marco Polo another. Then we went for lunch on Friday at Ben's so I got a full complement of bad foods in my gut. I hope that doesn't screw up my numbers. I don't think it will. I have been pretty careful the rest of the time so lets hope I get a good report.
Let me tell you it was great. I had a big bowl of matzo ball soup and then a pastrami on rye. And they were the first ones to get back the square Knishes that have been missing for months because of a strike at the factory. Man eating that Knish was better than eating ice cream.

I'm not clear as to how those transgressions or indulgences or flings or whatever they might be would show up on an echo.
The big question is, How is your heart doing? Is it still going wonky? Did the ablation help? Are you sleeping better? Are you feeling stronger?
From the amount of recently reported activity, it sounds like you've been getting some energy back. Have you been able to make it back to church?
I wish I could but I get pretty tired in the morning. I don't really get it in gear till noon.
The problem is my salt intake. I did too much of it last week. What we have to find out is my heart function. It was down as low as 15%. The last "off the books" echo I got it was up to 35%
I have to push it higher to get back to normal.
Currently I am beating at 75 per minute. If he dials me down to 60 I have to see how tired I get. I am adapting to each change in the pace maker so a dial down will be another transition.
We have to see.
The ice and snow we have in Brooklyn are so bad that the wife does not let me out without adult supervision. So I can't sneak out to go to church like I used to do. I would cut out and catch the Mass on Saturday night or early on a weekday morning. I hope to get a chance to do that when the weather breaks.
Currently the wife forces me to stay home and rest all day Sunday and that is why I post up a storm on Sundays.
Good for the blog. Bad for my soul.
That's a nice looking cardigan. Second picture of you wearing it I think. What is the plaid, clan oogatz?
Ha. It's Clan Stroonz of the Brooklyn Stroonz's.
I gotta tell you ric that knish was like butta. Like butta I tell ya!
Next time you are in town we can meet at Ben's and put on the feed bag.
I bet you will go for the chicken in the pot. Oy!!
I ran into my doctor's nurse at the grocery store the other day (her daughter used to work for me, too...small town). I told her that I took myself off the coumadin for the blood clot I had, and that since I hadn't died yet, I took that to mean the clot was gone. If looks could kill. She spit out, "I know you did."
Enjoy yourself, dude.
Oh don't get me wrong. This was a special case. We had so much to do this week that I was too exhausted to cook. So we ate out three times. But I will not be eating out for another month.
Thanks for what you said Sixty. I will take that advice to heart. So to speak. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
It was from the heart, so to speak, but sometimes I need to dial it down.
Take care of yourself, you chucklehead.
... to stay home and rest all day Sunday
Resting is good. It's what the Big Guy did on the 7th day too.
It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. You didn't get CHF overnight and you won't get it under control overnight. You are following the program. Pat yourself on the back, don't sweat the small shit. You got religion regarding your health quickly. Many people don't. BE POSITIVE, TROOPMUDGEON.
You're eating kosher for Lent?
Trooper, You should email photos of you w/ ashes to those godless bastards from your show.
You post a picture of processed meat like that on the first day of Lent. WTF? Why not post it on Fat Tuesday or at least wait till St. Patrick's Day.
They say switching to high protein is good when you are old...
You are not that old (and you have been high protein all your life so far), but at least you have something to look forward too.
You post a picture of processed meat like that...
Evi mooves in on the beef!
Getting her knackers in a not.

60 is my resting heart rate but I can easily get it over 120. Do you have that kind of range or is a one rate fits all?
When I was fit my resting pulse rate was in the 40s. My father always told me I needed a pace maker.
I could easily get up to close to 200 bpm when exercising, but as I got older I tried not to go over 180. Now 140 seems a bit more prudent.
I thought I had generated a horsepower of energy the other day when I lifted that 110 pound block of wood 4 feet onto my bandsaw, but that was only 440 foot pounds of energy, a horsepower is 550.
I must be getting old.
