Jose can you see...you're a fucking dick.

So the backstabber Jerry Manuel manages his first game in the first at bat Jose Reyes runs down to first and comes up lame. Just like the Mets. Lame. New manager Jerry Manuel comes out and takes him out of the game. Reyes acts out, protests and throws his helmet. Where the hell does he get off doing that. Imagine if he did that to Billy Martin, or Earl Weaver, or Sparky Anderson, or even freakin' Larry Bowa. The Mets needed someone to set these assholes straight. An inspirational leader. And the pity of the story is that the had the very guy. Wally Backman. A "real" Met in the same way Willie Randolph is a "Real Yankee." That was the reason the Met fans hated him in the first place. Willie has more class in his pinkie finger that there is in the whole Met organization. I was arguing about this with a Met fan and he brought up Billy Martin. That was 30 fucking years ago! Hey we fired Casey Stengel too!

I did make a mistake and categorized Jerry as a Latin when in fact he is a Cosby kid. So they traded someone with a championship history for a guy who had one good year as a manager for the White Sox. What a joke. In the press conference, general manager Omar Minaya made a big deal out of the fact that he hired the first black manager in New York baseball history. Guess what douche bag, you also fired the first black manager in New York baseball history. What do want? A cookie. A fan fedex eight live chickens to the Wilpons the owners of the Mets. What a great gag. Maybe we can fedex some cookies to Omar. Black and white ones. He won't eat them though. He just like those Latin cookies. Jeeez.

One of the reasons I don't follow sports is that I don't find a lot to admire in these guys.

The athleticism, sure. But for the seven- and eight-figure-salaries, they should be the nicest guys in the whole freaking world, clean, well-dressed, well-behaved, real role models.

Being a pro-athlete ought to be a rare privilege and one easily revoked. The desire to win has ultimately eroded standards to the point where I'd actually be concerned if my kids went into sports.

Well the thing about kids and sports is that it's a great teaching opportunity. When a kid idolizes a sports figure and learns he has feet of clay he gets to understand what the world is all about. I think this kids that worship Obama aren't sports fans and don't realize that he is just a man who will make mistakes and screw up. I mean Michael Jordan has a big gambling problem. Barry Bonds does steriods. Derek Jeter loves em and leaves them. Following sports is a good way for a kid to learn a lot about life. And playing sports is even more important. Because he can learn how to be a winner, but more important he can learn how to lose.
That's one of the most important things a kid can learn. How to lose a game without acting like a loser.
