Girls just wanna have fun!

I have been popping back and forth as we have been watching On Demand as is our custom because we have insomnia.

We saw "Glee" "New Girl" "Sons of Anarchy" "Reunion of Millionaire Matchmaker" and "Terra Nova."

All of which are relevant.

Glee is a all about a bunch of kids who want to put on a show. There is a lot of talent and a lot of conflict. There was a lot of fun when they just let the kids put on a show. And a humorless blond coach who wants to keep everyone in line. Hmmmmmmmm.

Then there is New Girl about a quirky girl who is on a date for the first time in while and meets this guy she likes so she watches porno to see if there are any new moves since the last time she was dating. She sees a choking website and starts to choke this dude and he gets freaked out and leaves. Even though he really likes her. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Sons of Anarchy was about Clay the President of the Motorcycle club who was trying to manipulate everyone and was putting out hits on people to control everything. Jacks his protégé and the Vice President tells him his reign of terror is over and rips off his Presidents patch and takes his gavel to preside of the gang of outlaws who are the heart and soul of the enterprise. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Millionaire Matchmaker had Patti Stanger trying to defend herself against a bunch of her clients who said she sucked and that she didn't know what she was talking about. All she did was shout them down and tell to shut up. Sort of deleted them. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Tera Nova had the heads of the two factions, The Commander an aging Blond guy and Mira the Rebel leader. Ok she is a hot black chick. But don't we all have a hot black chick inside of us. Or what to be inside a hot black chick.....err....anyway they have dinosaurs. We have hdhouse. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

You know what these shows taught me?

There is a big world full of singing gay people, quirky chicks who watch porn, Motorcycle riding rebels, Nasty Yentas with a chip on their shoulder and dinosaurs who don't give a shit about any of this.

Soon it will be old news. I don't care what other people say. I mean I don' t like it when people take a shot at me and the people who post here but that's par for the course. I don't delete anybody except for J. I don't try to control the conversation. I don't delete for clutter or flirting or freelance douchebaggery. That is over in the other place.

Meade left a comment on the football post saying he did some of the deleting. So to be fair in might not be the EBL fault in toto. Although when you are the general you take responsibility. They have to do what they have to do. But to delete innocent comments or even bickering when you let somebody like J write his anti-Semitic, anti-Mormon and yes his anti-wiccan shit is just ludicrous. It doesn't pass the smell test.

I want to continue along singing a song. I want youse guys to have fun and not worry about what the EBL is doing. She doesn't care about what we are doing. She is not your friend. She doesn't care about you. You were a means to end. Clicks. Page views. Paypal buddies. Amazon customers. We are not that venal here.

Girls just wanna have fun.

I hope you guys have some fun.

Yeah, well, OK,there's this, and that's true, but then there's also this, also all side-by-side and all.

I mean. That is, what else to think?

Is there room for one more over here? Also, what does EBL stand for?

As far as insomnia goes, I'm still up because I'm (sort of enough/halfways) watching, of all things, a 1970 flick featuring Suzanne Pleshette, of all people. Do you remember "Along Came a Spider"? Earlier, I sort of watched "Valley of the Dolls" and "The Panic in Needle Park." Dang, how perfect is the serendipity, FMC's timing for a melodrama marathon. Great gals in those movies, and at least a great guy or two or three or five or such as well.

I also like Althouse's blog. I doubt if I'll quit reading it. I do miss they glory days of the comment section -- and by that I mean two things: the days when I felt the commenting was so brilliant, insightful and yeah, respectful to some degree because of the familiarity I guess - that I was too timid to comment. Took me a long time to comment over there! And the second reason is the great friends I was blessed enough to meet through there when I finally did comment are not there much anymore. The tone is different, too.

Also, I don't really care who thinks what is boring when the bigger picture is about some really kind people loving on each other, ultimately. I'm attracted to warm hearts. And when there is the combo of really sharp intellect and a kindness underneath it, well, here we are. Trooper is a very good example of that. As are many of the people I spoke of above.

Cheers, friends.

Me, I appreciate Troop watching those shows so I don't have to.

Last night I watched a DVD of the George Harrison Memorial Concert.

Nice.

Darcy, a kind heart, that's why I liked you right away:) yes, what's so wrong with flirting, with being sweet and kind and gasp, even funny? It's not an attempt to derail the thread and usually ends after about 10 or so comments between a couple posters.

When we take ourselves so seriously that we can't appreciate a silly sidebar in a serious thread, we end up looking like humorless blowhards. I think commenters who appreciate kindness and humor end up here at Troopers. Roger J the epitome of a kind decent sort of guy, treated so disrespectfully over by Althouse is heartless.

I will may still read it until another political law blog get as much traffic. I am perplexed that a person such as Althouse, seems to be so insecure about her blog and seriously feels some are out to destroy it. That seems paranoid.

I never thought I would like hanging out with a bunch of conservatives as much as I do here and it's because of the tone Trooper sets and the types that get drawn to this place.

Does that sound sychophant-ish? Naw, I just like it here. I like pretty and kind hearted Darcy, I like the jolly men too.

Hi Allen , the other stooge! You know Allen I always like you, even when you were mean to me, I felt you never meant it deep down.

Glad to find everyone. I saw the reference to TY's site and came over...so far, the lack of angry name-calling is a relief.

My main man, AllenS. If you have problems "licking your wounds" in Trooper's refugee camp, just report to Nurse Allie, Sgt. AllenS, she can help!

ndspinelli said...

Trooper you have a very creative mind and way of expressing it. I'm really a suck-up @ heart.

I'm with Darcy, too.

Darn, I should have read this before putting up my last comment on the next thread. Said the same thing that's here, but not as well.

The problem, however, is zombies. They're everywhere these days. Somehow the professor has joined the ranks of the Living Dead, and I'm curious to know how that happened.

Not too much, though. But I will ask my favorite ghost what he knows, his being dead and all, and get back to you.

Hey AllenS thank you very much for coming. I am very happy. We need your voice and your no-nonsense approach to the world.

Every joint needs a guy who knows how to fix thing and raise a chicken.

Now if only RHHardin would comment we would have a guy who knows how to sex up a chicken. Just sayn'

AllenS said...

Thanks, Trooper,

I'll post some pictures later of my latest adventures in Bluecollarville.

Hey Troop - you need an Amazon link - think of all the cool stuff you could push us to buy.

On second thought, never mind...

But thanks for the updates on those shows - I have never seen any of them, and based on those remarks, never will.

I think the conclusion you reach about none of this amounting to anything after a very short while is absolutely true. Who, except a few blowhards could even describe the intricacies of the Peloponnesian Wars these days? And even what my father called "the recent unpleasantness between the states" has passed from human memory, although some of us still hold a grudge.

This minor skirmish shall pass and we will all be better for it.

I know you all may find this hard to believe but I have never watched Glee.

I think it is supposed to be a requirement for fags but I have no interest. I don't care for chorus groups. I have seen clips of the cheerios coach though and that dyke is funny.

Well, me. And I'm going to Siracusa this summer to check out the site of their great victory.

Yay.

Oh wait, I am sort of a blowhard.

Nevermind.

Damn Allen S--its good to see you over here--with all the blather on other blog sites, you were always consise, and always on target. Really good to see you here--Garry Owen, even if you were with the 173d

AllenS said...

I'm pleased to be receiving the warm welcomes.

AllenS said...

Very observant of you, Roger, to say 173d instead of 173rd. Bravo.

Roger J. said...

AllenS--At the risk of sounding really maudlin, the guys in Viet Nam were a band of brothers--doesnt mean much any more, but you, me, and troopers we served with know what I mean.

Thanks for coming on board. Troopers blog will be well served by your observations and commentary.

Oh--and second AllenS question: what the hell does EBL stand for?

When first I came here, I had no friggen idea.

You know, you have to get into Troop's head, and it's way scary in there.

Anonymous said...

I wondered what it meant too, for the longest time, but was scared to ask.

blake said...

Don't be afraid to ask stupid questions.

It only stings a little.

Then you can pass it on.

AllenS said...

EBL also stands for You Know Who.

I am rather curious about terra nova, but I have to admit to watching Glee and Millionaire Matchmaker (this one less frequently).

Does Trooper watch the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, MTT?

I can't help but like Glee. It just works. But the politics are shit.

I cringe whenever they make real world political comments, but I like the show as well.

I'll third this. Worst is when they try to do "girl-power", which always devolves into "the (supposedly powerful) girls need all this help and for the guys to be nicer to them." Gross.

But yet, still tons of fun.

Fred4Pres said...

I like Glee, too. My daughter watches it so I watch it too. It is entertaining. I am not letting the kids watch New Girl anymore, however It is too slutty.
