What I would like for us to do?

Someone emailed me this comment from that other evil place that I never go to anymore:

yashu said...
I'm sad Trooper is no longer part of Althouse the blog. If I recall correctly, it was his own choice to leave and cut this blog out of his life entirely. I hope there might be a reconciliation someday, though I won't hold my breath.

Loyalty is a fine quality. But for a friend of Trooper's to come here *just* for the purpose of taunting and insulting Meadehouse, IMO doesn't help anything. Just stirs up more bad blood, doesn't it?

Anyway, hadn't heard about Troop's reality show; good luck to him!

I would like to explicitly state that I hope no one visits the depths of Hell to piss on the evil blogger lady....even if she is on fire. I don't encourage nastiness. That's her gig. What we do here is about us and has no need to have anything to do with that unfortunate couple. I just want them to take my name out of their mouth and to leave us alone.

I really appreciate those of you who post over there a lot not mentioning what we are doing or are talking about here. Also I ask that some of youse guys who are emailing me quotes to not worry about it. I don't care what is going on over there. It is no longer any more of my concern. If you like to post over there it is fine with me. It doesn't really matter to me at all. We are doing great stuff here. Let's let bygones be bye bye or something like that there.

I responded to Moose who was not aware of why you've gone private and expressed interest in joining. I suggested Moose email you. That was deleted as were a couple ballbusts. However, the ballbusts and telling Moose to email you were separate. I hope that meets your criteria.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I post both places (actually a lot of places).

Each blog is a different critter.

I like to discuss politics and economics and spar a bit with the liberals. Althouse's blog lends itself to that type of posting.

Your blog is different in that we don't discuss political issues so much and have a more laize faire attitude towards posting, talk about popular culture and in general its like a bunch of guys and gals joking around with each other.

I haven't said anything about your blog over 'there' since I figure it is your business if you want other people to know...or not.

Just like in junior high...... I can have more than one set of friends.

:-D

chickelit said...

Your move to private did come as a surprise to some, especially those not deranged enough to be here on a daily basis like myself. For example, Pete Terranova and Jason (the Commenter) both seemed to have discovered your switch over too late.
I don't discuss your place "over there" or on Twitter except to suggest to some to email you for access. I do however perceive an uptick in interest over there regarding your upcoming show "over there" and I'm not sure how you can reach out to those people, not all of whom hold grudges.

The Dude said...

Odd place over there, don't miss it. I am actually kind of sorry I wasted so many hours making comments there. It took many more hours to delete them all. I should have just let the * and her * do that work for me.

* - use any word you care to.

Trooper York said...

I do not really hold grudges. I am just afraid of what nastiness the self rightous couple might unleash. Not for myself but for my wife who the show is really about.

I appreciate it that you guys don't talk over there. If anyone contacts you for access please feel free to give them my email and I will talk to them directly. I am open to most anyone.

Trooper York said...

Nick you are of course free to do as you please in all things as always.

I don't put restrictions on people. That's their thing.

I think they are very paranoid and think there is some kind of organized campaign or vast trooper york conspiracy or something. So guys like you and AllenS and others are deleted left and right. That is because they can not stand up to scrutiny or the open exchange of ideas freely expressed.

I went private because I didn't want to trash all of my work that could be used against my wife and her show by the politically correct police. Led by a affirmative action hire instructor at a mediocre midwestern second tier cow college. And her lonely hearts pen pal.

Wait. Did that sound too nasty?

Sorry.

Huh.

DBQ we are all about fun here. Which is what it should be about. That other joint is where fun goes to die.

And of course some of the Photos I like to post lead to some different strokes. So to speak.

ndspinelli said...

Not nasty enough.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

Wise move. Some people could be malicious and try to hurt you. You guys have the opportunity of a lifetime and you don't want to have it ruined because someone wants to make trouble for you over some blog postings.

And of course some of the Photos I like to post lead to some different strokes. So to speak

LOL. Not everyone has a sense of humor and some people, who shall remain nameless, are probably secretly prudes or feminists or something.

Sixty, I'm with you, I wasted way too much time and emotion over there. It was unhealthy and unproductive and it taught me some truths about the nature of the internets.

Trooper, I was amazed a the level of paranoia by her. I don't believe for a minute that anyone was attempting to deliberately destroy her blog, as she has said several times during that time. That was pure paranoia, or a simply a way of justifying her treatment of those who had the balls to stand up to her and for stand up for themselves.

BUT in the end I am glad I did comment over there, I met some great people , Ritmo, you, and all the great guys and gals over here. So it's all good.

Yes yes Chickie, I deleted. I don't want MamaM after me again.

chickelit said...

Hey Peter!

chickelit said...

So, someone just deleted a comment of mine (a comical reply to Carol_Herman in the wine bottle thread). I responded by deleting three earlier comments.

The Dude said...

Are you shitting me, CL? You don't know who deleted your comment? It was Meade. Tell me you are not surprised by the behavior of those commie cocksuckers. Speaking of which, how you doin', Hoh?

Anonymous said...

Chickie! You broke a cardinal rule over there , NO FLIRTING unless it's to Althouse herself. Carol Herman is tempting though, huh?

chickelit said...

Are you shitting me, CL? You don't know who deleted your comment? It was Meade.

Not so sure. It wasn't the kind of comment Meade would delete. I've been posting comments there for several weeks without deletion.

chickelit said...

@Allie: I never thought of that!

Anonymous said...

Chickie, who else would delete you then? What was the comment to Carol Herman, I read hers which was a bit, um , strange, but hey that's what makes her interesting. If A herself deleted you , hmmm, very interesting, it might prove my point in my last comment.

The Dude said...

Maybe he just sobered up. And you read something Carol "Ricky Branch" Herman wrote then commented on it? That can't be good.

Anonymous said...

So in the spirit of moving on, wasn't Downton Abbey terrific yesterday?!

Anybody else watching it besides Chickie and I?

Peter Hoh said...

Sixty Grit, as a matter of fact, we were speaking about sandpaper and grit numbers today at work.

I've moved up in the world. No longer "occasional," now I'm part-time.

I should put part-time in quotes, too, seeing as a lot of my "off" hours are consumed by work.

No complaints. It's good to have work.

I was flirting with the idea of opening a retail type establishment, but I got offered the job. A regular paycheck looked a hell of a lot more attractive than sinking the retirement money in a brick-and-mortar.

How about Madonna last night?

So fucking amazing.

Anonymous said...

Titus! YES Madonna was great, she looked a bit careful in some of her moves, but hey it's not easy walking, much less dancing in stiletto boots.

Anonymous said...

Oh hell, I'm going to bed.

chickelit said...

Madonna reminds me of a cross between Mrs Isobel Crawley (Matthew's mother) and Mrs. O'Brien, both loathsome characters from "Downton Abbey" (with a little Cindy Sheehan thrown in for good measure). She is apparently gaining adoration among gay males, but her influence on young females thankfully is waning.

Anonymous said...

My 11 year old granddaughter actually said "ew" a couple of times during Madonna's performance, lol.

FYI Sixty, I never really liked Madonna, but I was being nice to Titus, because he was so looking for someone to agree with him about Madonna's performance. Sometimes it's just better to be kind, little white lies, you know.

It cannot be easy being him. Her. Whatever... I shall leave the old insecure queen to his love of Medusa, er, Madonna, and allow them to disco off into the sunset.

And whatever you do, Allie, do not cover up - that is a great picture of you! ;^)

I'm late to this party. 1,732 things are crashing in and I've had precious little time to check the innertubewebs the past few days. I've steered clear of mentioning the EBL (apologies to the bovine EBL), since this is Trooper's place and it's bad manners to bring up unpleasantness in someone else's living room.

Anyhow, since the topic is on the table, I simply don't visit the EBL prison. Not out of solidarity with Trooper, although that would be reason enough, but because the place isn't interesting. One would think that the EBL would shit kittens to hear that someone found her little blog uninteresting, but she doesn't give a rip about the little people who visit, so big deal.

The last episode of drama resulting in mass deletions and such was bizarre, so say the least. I simply don't care, and didn't particularly care, since I had already moved on. I miss the old days of blogging cockroach, Palladian, and Trooper's spot-on analysis.

Blogs tend to become caricatures of themselves eventually, and so it is with the EBL. When she was somewhat dismissive and aloof, occasionally lowering the boom on some inane commenter, it was mildly entertaining. Now that the volume has been turned up, mixed with the vain paranoia, there's nothing attractive (to me).

Meade showed up at my blog and posted some weird shit, trying to pick a fight. Then he slunk away to the shadows to lick the spot his balls used to reside before the EBL put them in a jar on the mantle. They probably deserve each other.

One last thing, I'd just like to point out that the Mets suck. (But, they are tied for first place right now.)

Dust Bunny Queen said...

Ditto. Trooper has a more pleasant place to be: and to keep dragging in the dog poop on our shoes is not good.

HOWEVER. I have had it. We were having a productive and interesting discussion and the random and deletions were doing nothing to advance the discussion. Mary's posts and my responses to her were summarily deleted.

So, while trash talking, name calling and the other non productive verbal diarrhea posts are allowed....

Allie has it exactly right. The Nazi regime atmosphere is stifling. I don't play well by the rules anyway :-)

My Swan Song in case anyone is interested.

This censorship of postings is utter and complete bullshit.

Mary was contributing to the conversation and made some excellent points, yet she is deleted for no apparent reason.

I have been posting here for quite some time and have enjoyed the numerous topics and the ability to interact with people who have differing opinions.

Until now.

Evidently Althouse and her stooge Meade are unable to accept this. While stating that this blog was to stimulate conversation, they are at the same time stifling the free exchange of ideas by arbitrary and might I say malicious deletions.

Good bye.

Dust Bunny Queen.

Made some rolls and cole slaw for dinner and put a pork roast in the oven.

Finishing up with a glass of wine (or two) while the Mr. is napping, surfing the net and listening to music.

Did I mention I love retirement?

The Dude said...

I know much about Bawmer, spent many years in and around there, and it cracks me up when real Baltimorons they hired have some lines. The Baltimore accent is so strong that it cannot be denied, nor can it be faked. When the Brit who played McNulty tried to say "Downy ocean" it was just sad. But the woman who plays the school administrator and the one real police they hired, probably as a sop to the pleece union speak their lines - it is obvious that they are the real deal.

I will be sad when I get through the last season. It has been quite the ride.

Much as watching all 86 episodes of The Sopranos caused me to talk as if I was from New Jersey, The Wire is causing me to sound as if I am from Droodle Park. Not good.

As for corruption in democrat cities, that show, even though written by fucking commies, serves as strong confirmation bias.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

Damn right! What a great show. Rented it, and sometimes did a marathon to watch an entire season in one day.

I made the mistake of watching the actors commentary at the end of the last episode. Buncha British and Irish commies, mostly, especially the guy who played McNulty.

Next up on DVD is Sons of Anarchy.

*Side note* Mrs H hasn't worn a bra for decades. Not even to work. A few layers of shirts some days, but that's it. Sounds like there may be a free-range girls support (?) group here.

Trooper York said...

What is great about the journalist story is they show what liars and cheats they are. I don't want to spoil it for Sixty but it is real interesting and shows why the only thing worse than a journalist is a lawyer.

Trooper York said...

The deal with Blue Bloods that is so unbelievable is that every hot crime in the city is being handled by one detective who is the police commissioner's son. In real life no body would get away with that. The commissioner's son would be in a sinecure where he wouldn't get into any trouble. Not rousting knuckleheads or beating up suspects in the box.

Currently the police commissioner's son is a TV reporter who is jammed up because he was banging some broad who is claiming rape when they have her on tape making out with him and leading him by the hand into her apartment. Now that's reality TV.

This series really is true to life in every respect. Fucked up schools. What crack heads are really like. How reporters lie. Trust me you will be pleasantly surprised.

@Chip S

Mum's the word..no way I'd ruin it for everyone.

BJM said...

@allie

BJM, are you a guy?!

Ummm..no, but I hang out with guys a lot.

I was wondering if I should post this since we're deep into The Wire and SoA (best and 2nd best series since Homicide)...but for you rom-com movie buffs and tenderhearted guys (yeah, we see ya grinning when you stop to watch a chick flick).

P-Dub's having a Matchoff Tournament between the all-time best Rom-Coms...or if you're an 80's dweeb, scroll down and take "The Breakfast Club" quiz.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Dust Bunny Queen just won new respect, in my book.

(Hope that wasn't too difficult to read!)

chickelit said...

@BJM: I think Allie asked you that because of the odd way you responded to my comment back up thread at 4:37.

chickelit said...

DBQ has always had my respect.

But I never like to see people flounce off anywhere.

I appreciate that the "Mary problem" is a complex one over there--at least as much so as the "J" one was here.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

And at the expense of disagreeing with some (while agreeing with pocopollo) I had the same idea regarding Mary.

There was something downright stalkerish about how she went about things. It's almost like agreement or disagreement didn't even matter to her, so much as did browbeating for its own sake.

I know I've often latched on to comments with which I took issue, with the tenacity of an obsessive Rottweiler. But there were always other moments, as well.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

You should also rent "Justified" which is a big favortie with both me and Dust Bunny Queen

Oh Yeah! Raylan can clean my porch anytime! (reference to a scene in the first season) I just wish he would get rid of his skank wife.

Gonna miss Mags Bennett though. She was a great character.

Love the show.

But I never like to see people flounce off anywhere.

It IS a two edged sword. Easy to flounce out with great drama. But, embarassing if you happen to slink back.

I just got tired of trying to have a discussion when half of the comments were erased for no good reason.

chickelit said...

@BJM:

BTW, I just now google image searched Amy Nuttall. I'll bet her boyfriend takes her name when they marry.

Anonymous said...

Chickie, thanks for translating Allie speak to BJM, lol, you are right that is why I asked.

Anonymous said...

BJM and to be perfectly honest, after your perky boob comment , I was so hoping you be a guy damn! JK;)

Darcy said...

Phew. I think I caught up, but still missed a lot!

@DBQ - I love Justified and I miss Mags too! What a rich character she was.

Is it braless Tuesday? I came unprepared!

The Dude said...

Whoa - bouncing to go with flouncing - might this be the best thread ever?

Chip S. said...

Easy enough to fix, Darcy.

Darcy said...

I walked right into that one. :)

Anonymous said...

Darcy! I missed you!

Anonymous said...

We ladies just have to be careful about going braless in a large group of sailors, hehe.

Darcy said...

Hi Allie! ;-)

Chip S. said...

Troop, you've persuaded me to watch S5 of The Wire.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I may have to buy the DvD of The Wire.

I refuse to give HBO any money since they killed Deadwood. And that's a bummer because I really wanted to see Game of Thrones.

But....a vendetta isn't any good unless you carry it through.

chickelit said...

"The Wire" is one of the best series I watched last year. Trooper recommended it then too.

Trooper = wise

Chip S. said...

The final scene of S3 of TW is right up there with the ending to "Newhart", IMO.

chickelit said...

Hey Darcy!

Lift and separate?

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I mean subscribe to HBO, just to watch one or two shows.

chickelit said...

@DBQ: Is Netflix not an option?

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I don't have the peripheral equipment to watch on the Tee Vee. (I don't think? I'm not so up on all of the newest streaming options) We don't have a smart television. Just a moderately retarded one.

We can watch on the computer...but that's no fun.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I used to have cable almost exclusively for HBO... well, as far as premium channels went. And then The Sopranos and Rome ended and I didn't see much point in paying huge sums to Comcast for Big Love and whatnot.

I heard the programming's gotten better since, or at least it comes and goes. But still don't see a point in it.

Darcy said...

LOL. Are you saying I need some extra help, chickelit?

Chip S. said...

Let me give you a hand with those.

chickelit said...

Whatever's comfortable!

Anonymous said...

You can find almost anything on Netflix or Hulu Plus.

Darcy said...

A big hand for the little ladies? Heh. :)

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

What a bunch of saucy boys you are!

Chip S. said...

If a big hand is what's required, then so much the better.

Anonymous said...

Yeah you guys are soooo fresh! That's what my mothers generation called it.

Anonymous said...

Ritmo is being such a gentleman.

chickelit said...

This weekend at home on Netflix: "Lemmy", "Infamous", and "Gettysburg".

"RHCP: Funky Monks" was at the top (it just got released to NetFlix) but it's already short-waited.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

tits

(That's my tribute to Titus, BTW).

Although to be perfectly honest, it's Allie who taught me restraint.

chickelit said...

I've been a gentleman and "hands off" so far if you'd care to notice.

Anonymous said...

Well damn Ritmo , unlearn that.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

What is "short-waited" and can you tell my how "Funky Monks" was once you see it, or if you already have?

I vaguely remember something along those lines... was it a documentary?

I met a girl (all right, a woman -- sigh, rolls eyes) a few weeks ago whose ex was good friends with John Frusciante. She told me about what it was like to hang out with his mom. She was very involved in anti-drug charities and such, not surprisingly.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

You so funny, Allie ;-)

Yes, I intentionally dropped the verb.

Anonymous said...

Chickie, you can be pretty naughty at times. Of course I'm as pure as the driven snow.

Chip S. said...

@chicklit--Thanks. The ungentlemanly among us appreciate restraint on the part of others.

That goes for Ritmo, too.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Heilige sheiss! I missed that Chickie was watching a movie about Lemmy, too!

Damn.

I never really picked up on Motorhead the way I did Chilies and such, but that is a cool list of selections.

The guy did/does? have cool sideburns, tho. And a cool way of angling his microphone.

Chip S. said...

I'm as pure as the driven snow.

Isn't "driven" the state of snow just before it gets plowed?

chickelit said...

"Short-waited" just means they don't have enough physical DVDs to ship your choice. Happens with new releases. I'll look into streaming it.

Michael Haz said...

What are we drinking tonight, dear friends? Jameson here.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

No problem, Chip. It's confidence ;-) Enjoy the scenery all you want. Heh.

Anonymous said...

Why Chip how astute of you!

chickelit said...

@Ritmo,
No I haven't seen "Funky Monks" yet. Loved the album though and I've good things about it.

chickelit said...

@Allie: Me? naughty? I think I'm much worse on Twitter.

chickelit said...

missing verb is "heard"

The Dude said...

Aye, Jameson for solidarity! FREE IRELAND!!!

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

We're just dropping verbs left and right tonight.

I didn't even keep up with them well enough between Blood Sugar and Stadium Arcadium to know if there was an album by that name. I just remember the song name from Blood Sugar.

Blood sugar, baby! She's magic! Sex magic! Sex magic!

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Drop the beat. Drop the bass.

Darcy said...

Restraint? That's what I thought was being offered!

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Well, it depends on your perspective, Darcy. Who's being offered and who's doing the offering!

Pretty soon this will start to feel like a damn swingers' party.

Darcy said...

Pass the Jameson, please.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I'm starting to see why this blog was set on "private".

Keep your privates private, gentlemen.

Saving Ryan's Privates.

Michael Haz said...

*Passes bottle to Chip* Here ya go, Chip!

Darcy said...

I have no excuse. I have had no cocktails.

Just hospital duty. I got a hug tonight!

Chip S. said...

Thanks, MHaz.

Just the thing after the 3/4 bottle of pinot I downed with dinner.

chickelit said...

Who's Ryan?

I have to hit the road for Trader Joe's

Requests?

Darcy said...

Chimichurri rice!

Anonymous said...

Was it from a cute doc, Darcy?

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I quote A Beautiful Mind and say:

"The cock belonged to me and the tail was that of a fine young girl..."

What sort of duty do you do at a hospital, Darcy?

Michael Haz said...

Darcy - How awesome was that??!!

Anonymous said...

Trail mix, with honey!

chickelit said...

@Darcy:

Mindreader!

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Sorry to be oblivious on that one. I think I understand now.

LMAO I spelled it right!

Darcy said...

I haven't scoped out any cute docs yet, Allie.

I volunteer in the cardiac unit, Ritmo.

@Michael:

It was the best. This lady was trying to get her mom discharged. The poor woman just wanted to go home. They asked me to sit and talk with them for a bit and when I left, the daughter hugged me.

A little bit of medicine for me. :)

Anonymous said...

Ohhhhh, Trader Joes, duh.

The Dude said...

Cardiac unit nurses are the best. I speak from experience. Everyone I met was an angel. Or angle. No, they were angels.

Anonymous said...

Believe me Darcy, it's much more fun being a volunteer.

Anonymous said...

Sixty, did they give your heart new lease on life? Want to say what your surgery was? Just nosy. It's OK if you don't want to share.

Darcy said...

Hee. Sixty. ;-)

Allie, I only do 2.5 hours. It's nothing. Everybody there works hard and I see that. I'm really happy just to be there.

Chip S. said...

I think I understand what you're saying, Allie. But I respect the hell out of anyone who does volunteer.

Especially when the volunteer relaxes by joining in some dopey comments thread afterward.

Michael Haz said...

Cardiac club member here. The volunteers were angels. Very greatly appreciated.
